When passionate New Orleanians can’t get home for po-boys, sometimes they just have to bring the po-boys to them. Glenn Murphree loved a good po-boy and wanted to bring a taste of his native city to Lafayette. In 1982, he found the perfect place in the Olde Tyme Grocery. Amidst the crowded grocery aisles, he could feel the location had good character. The shop grew from 15 po-boys a day to a thriving local hotspot. Families and businesspeople keep coming back for the fried shrimp and the signature Olde Tyme Special— ham, turkey, roast beef, Swiss cheese, dressed with brown gravy on New Orleans-style French bread from the nearby Langlinais Bakery.
