What actually happens during a visit in the Non-Surgical Knee Program?**
Your plan is built from your evaluation, so no two knees receive an identical visit. Depending on your findings and candidacy, a treatment visit may include:
🔹 Hands-on joint mobilization or manual therapy
🔹 Non-surgical knee decompression
🔹 Radial shockwave or Class IV laser
🔹 Guided strength and movement retraining
🔹 Progress checks against your starting measurements
Regenerative procedures such as PRP may also be recommended at defined points in the program for appropriate candidates. They are not automatically included in every visit, and each therapy is selected by the treating provider.
The point is not to stack treatments. It is to use the right combination for your knee, then measure whether function is changing.
📞 Call **806-355-3000** to start with a knee evaluation.
*Therapies and procedure timing are determined by individual evaluation. A trial of conservative care is not a guarantee or a substitute for surgery when indicated. Individual results vary.*

Have you started organizing your day around your knee?**
Maybe it looks like:
• Pushing off the armrests to stand
• Taking stairs one step at a time
• Avoiding kneeling because getting back up is difficult
• Skipping the walk because you expect to pay for it later
• Choosing the closer parking space before you even think about it
These small workarounds can become so normal that you stop counting them as limitations.
A knee evaluation can help identify what is driving the difficulty—pain, motion loss, weakness, movement control, joint changes, or a combination—and whether a structured conservative plan may help.

Researchers are looking beyond the number on the scale.
A new systematic review examined tirzepatide and two blood markers associated with inflammation. Across seven randomized trials and one observational study, tirzepatide was associated with greater reductions in hsCRP and IL-6 compared with placebo.
In the pooled analysis, the difference in percentage change was 32.9 points for hsCRP and 17.8 points for IL-6.
That is promising biomarker evidence. It does not prove that tirzepatide treats an inflammatory disease, and it does not tell us how any one person will respond. Some of the change may also come from weight loss and improved metabolic health rather than a direct medication effect.
Medication is one part of a medically supervised plan. Indication, side effects, contraindications, nutrition, and protecting muscle mass all matter.

Muscle size is only part of the story. The real question is what that muscle can do.
A new systematic review pooled 41 randomized trials involving 3,141 adults age 60 and older. Resistance exercise significantly improved muscle-specific strength, meaning the amount of strength produced relative to muscle mass.
Nutrition supplements, aerobic exercise, and combined approaches did not show a statistically significant improvement in that specific measure. That does not make them unimportant. It means resistance training was the intervention that stood out for this outcome.
The studies varied considerably, so there is no single routine for everyone. The right starting point depends on health history, balance, joint tolerance, and current function.
If getting out of a chair, climbing stairs, carrying groceries, or keeping your balance feels harder than it used to, an evaluation can help identify a safe place to begin.

A degenerative meniscus tear does not automatically mean surgery.**
In a five-year randomized trial of adults ages 45–70 with degenerative meniscal tears, exercise-based physical therapy remained noninferior to arthroscopic partial meniscectomy for patient-reported knee function. Another major trial involving patients with a meniscal tear and mild-to-moderate osteoarthritis found no significant average difference in functional improvement between surgery-plus-rehabilitation and a physical-therapy-first strategy at six months—although some patients in the therapy group later chose surgery.
That does not mean every tear belongs in conservative care. A locked knee, a true mechanical block, an acute traumatic injury, or other concerning findings may require orthopedic evaluation.
It does mean that many adults with a common degenerative tear have a reasonable basis for asking whether structured conservative care should come first.
📞 Call **806-355-3000** for an evaluation with **Kyra Easter, DC**, a GRIP-certified non-surgical knee provider.
*Educational information, not medical advice. Appropriate candidates only; some meniscal injuries require surgical referral. Individual results vary.*
