Mast Permanent Makeup Official sent over the new Mast Racer Pro so we can test out the pixels! Here’s the very first thing I do after getting a new machine:

FIND YOUR SETTINGS
Your machine speed may vary from machine to machine due to the configurations of stroke, machine weight & your hand speed.

The mast racer pro functions on two power modes: FREQUENCY & VOLTAGE. Frequency is perfect for SMP because the Racer Pro has a soft, medium, and hard subsetting to control the needle to skin contact. Now here’s the feature I’m happy about for the Voltage side, you have two separate settings: Outlineeee and Shadinggggg, meaning you can save your slow voltage setting and your shading setting without clicking your dials up & down!

This machine is a 4.2mm stroke so if your shading style is the pixelated look, this is perfect.

After going through the Finding your Shading Technique exercises, here’s what settings works best for ME. I found 5.2v is perfect for outlining and 6.5v is where my pixels shows no dashes (your settings depends on your hand speed)

But remember If you get a new machine, find the settings that works best for you before using it on a real client to avoid damaging their skin’s integrity.

If you guys didn’t know, I like to apply numbing after I complete the outline. I use a combination of lidocaine & epinephrine, it helps keep my clients comfortable for the shading process & their reaction is like this most of the time LOL

Most clients are shocked when I tell them I started shading cause they can’t really feel anything. Here’s what’s really happening in the skin:

• Lidocaine cream is a local anesthetic that numbs the skin by blocking the nerve signals for pain.

• Epinephrine is usually mixed with local anesthetics like lidocaine—used to constrict blood vessels, reduce bleeding, and decrease swelling or inflammation in the skin.

I used this numbing combo on my client and she said it tickles! LOL! If you’re a PMU artist and looking for a numbing agent that actually works, drop “NUMB” below & I’ll send you the exact one I use!

Your client is swelling and it’s not caffeine or alcohol, here’s how to assess the situation:
💋 TECHNIQUE
Shading til color pops up is NOT a technique, developing a rule book on how many passes, overlap pattern, and starting on the top lip vs bottom lip is the start of a technique yesss. If you understand what you’re doing… you’ll understand how to “fix” the technique til it’s perfect without overshading

💋 CHECK YOUR NEEDLE
A defective needle can ruin your work more than you think. It causes unnecessary trauma and swelling. If you notice color isn’t implanting…. Change…. Your…. Needle. You might not be able to see the defect but when I doubt just change it out

💋 STRETCH MATTERS
Avoid over stretching the lips, you’re already punching tiny holes to implant color. Hold lips taut not necessarily “tight”

We’re giving our client the benefit of the doubt that they followed pre care instructions, there are other ways to avoid excessive lip swelling but these are what I’d check right away

HERES THE COLOR CHOICE & WHYYY ⬇️

** in no way I’m saying this is the onlyyyyy color choice to go with, it’s simply what I chose for her to match her goals **

First let’s state the facts:
• she’s a fitz 3
• combo mature skin

Her goal was to have brows but not too dark like Joan Crawford she said. (LOL I had to look her up) She wanted them soft and natural so we went with a pixelated look

So here’s the breakdown of her color:
• Oak & Blackish brown (neutral brown & warm dark brown) 40% : 60 %
• I diluted it with thinning solution since I wanted a softer healed result.

Her undertones were a bit olive, so I was counting on the warmth of Blackish Brown to bring out a pretty brown like her hair color.
