A positive aspiration isn’t a reason to panic, it’s a reason to be prepared.

This image shows blood entering the syringe during aspiration on a client, indicating the needle may be within a blood vessel. Aspiration is important because it helps determine whether the needle is inside a blood vessel before injecting. An injector can check for blood return, which signals a higher risk of intravascular injection and potential complications.

What did I do you ask? 😬
-Stop immediately
-Remove the needle and dispose in sharps
-Change to a new sterile needle
-Assess the area and patient
-Select a different injection point before continuing

This is why anatomy, safety protocols, and ongoing education matter.
