Today, my dining room table became the bottling production line. There’s something really personal about making each bottle of Lavender Essential Oil by hand.

I fill each bottle, add the stopper, twist on the cap, apply the label, and finish it with a shrink-wrap band.

Fill. Stopper. Cap. Label. Seal. Repeat.

When you’re a small business, these are the little details that make up the whole thing. A lot of love goes into what makes its way from our hands to yours.

Inventory Day: Behind the Scenes 📋

Every Fall, there’s one glamorous day when we count everything in the shop to prep for the holiday season.

It takes two people about four hours to get through it all. Last year, we did it in the dark with no power thanks to the roof replacement work. Because apparently counting inventory wasn’t challenging enough. 😂

This year, things went a little more smoothly, and we even had some unexpected help!

Meet Millie, a pigeon from Kristin’s flock (Pigeon Diaries), who decided to join the inventory team. 🐦

So this year’s crew: 2 humans + 1 doodle + 1 pigeon.

Just another day in the life of a small business.

Counting lavender instead of selling lavender… just for a day! The doors are closed Tuesday 9/29 while we count, organize, and get TLC ready for the holiday season ahead (how are there less than 100 days left of 2026?!).

When lavender is harvested, the flowers can take several different paths.

Cut for bouquets — enjoyed just as they are, bringing the beauty and fragrance of lavender into your home.

Dried and stripped — the buds become the fragrant filling for our lavender sachets and aromatherapy pillows.

Distilled — the flowers are steam distilled to create lavender essential oil and hydrosol, giving us even more ways to enjoy lavender.

If we haven’t met, hi, I’m Julie — owner of True Lavender Collective and the human behind this account. And yep, today’s my birthday. 🎈

I’m not entirely sure how that happened, but what a ride it has been. I certainly didn’t follow the map I thought I was given. There have been multiple master’s degrees, career changes, big leaps, unpredictable turns, a lavender business I never expected to own, and more reinvention and relocations than I probably would have signed up for.

But here I am at 50, feeling grateful for where I am, curious about what’s ahead, and very happy to have this little girl by my side for the ride. 🐾
