You are moisturizing your mini braids wrongly. Do this instead.

I almost skipped these two kitchen ingredients… until I gave them a chance 👀💧

Now they’re part of one of my favorite DIY oils.

The ingredient that surprised me the most wasn’t the onion 😳

My mini braids didn’t grow my hair. Consistency did. Would you join the next challenge? Comment Yes or No.

I almost didn’t take these pictures. 👀

A few weeks ago, my mini braids looked just like every other protective style I’ve ever worn. Nothing seemed different.

But instead of constantly manipulating my hair, I made one promise to myself:

✨ Keep my hands out of my hair.
✨ Stay consistent with moisture.
✨ Trust the process.

Today, while separating my braids, I noticed something that made me stop and take these pictures…

My roots are telling a story.

No miracle.
No overnight growth.
Just consistency.

This is exactly why thousands of women are joining the MyHairWorldDiaryminibraids Challenge—to see what happens when they give their hair time, moisture, and patience.

The real question is…

If this is the progress so far, what will it look like by the end of the challenge? 🤔

Same 7-week-old mini braids.
Same person.
Completely different moisture level 😳💧

I almost forgot how dry they looked until I compared the before and after 👀

This is why I keep saying mini braids don’t thrive on neglect… they thrive on maintenance .

Which side would you choose: dry or moisturized? 😂👇🏾💕

Everyone asks about the hair mist… but THIS is what I do next 👀

After my hair mist and leave-in, I apply my DIY oil to my edges and scalp, then massage for 1–2 minutes .

It’s a simple step, but I refuse to skip it.

The results didn’t happen overnight… and that’s the part nobody wants to hear 😭

Comment LOVE and I will share my exact recipe with you.

PART 2: MY ONION + GINGER HAIR GROWTH OIL RECIPE

After so many questions about what goes into my hair growth oil, here is the step-by-step recipe I use👇

Ingredients:
🧅1/2 Red Onion
🫚 Fresh Ginger
🌿 1–2 tbsp Dried Rosemary
💧 3 Drops Peppermint Essential Oil
🥥 Carrier Oil of Choice

How I make it:
✔️ Chop the onion and ginger into small pieces.
✔️ Add rosemary and your carrier oil.
✔️ Use the double boiler method to gently infuse the herbs.
✔️ Allow to cool, strain, and add peppermint oil.
✔️ Shake well and store in a clean bottle.

How I use it:
💚 Apply directly to the scalp and thinning areas.
💚 Massage for 1–2 minutes.
💚 Use 2–3 times weekly or as needed.

Consistency beats perfection. One application won’t transform your hair, but a healthy routine repeated over time can make a difference.

My kitchen looked like I was cooking dinner 😭👀. But I was actually making one of the most talked-about oils in my routine.

Onion.
Ginger.
Rosemary.
Olive oil.

The ingredient I almost left out ended up being my favorite part 😳💧

Comment “NEXT” and I will post how I use on my scalp or hairline.

SAVE for later. DAY 54 OF MINI BRAIDS-Halfway through my 90-day mini braids challenge, I noticed something 👀

My hair wasn’t struggling because it needed more oil…
It needed help holding onto moisture 😭.
That’s when this simple mix became a staple in my routine.

The ingredient I added to my water might surprise you .

Onion Edge Revival Spray. My sisters asked for the full recipe. Here’s exactly how I make my Onion Edge Revival Spray— super simple and affordable. Many natural hair girls are seeing stronger edges and less shedding with consistent use.

Ingredients (makes about 1 cup / enough for 2-3 weeks):
- 2–3 medium red onions (fresh is best)
- Optional: 1–2 tbsp aloe vera gel (for extra soothing) or a splash of rose water
- Clean spray bottle or glass jar

Step-by-Step Instructions

1.Prep the onions
Peel 2–3 red onions and roughly chop them into small pieces. Red onions are preferred because they tend to be milder and rich in sulfur compounds that support hair health.

2. Extract the juice
- Blender method (easiest): Add the chopped onions to a blender with ¼ cup of water. Blend on high until you get a smooth pulp.
- Grater method: Grate the onions finely using a box grater.

3. Strain the juice
Pour the blended or grated onion pulp into a cheesecloth, clean kitchen towel, or fine mesh strainer. Squeeze firmly with your hands to extract all the liquid. You should get about ½ to ¾ cup of golden onion juice.

4. Optional boost
Stir in 1–2 tablespoons of fresh aloe vera gel for added moisture and scalp soothing (great for dry scalp and low porosity hair).

5. Store
Pour the juice into a clean spray bottle or glass jar. Keep it in the refrigerator for up to 7–10 days. Shake well before each use.

How to Use on Wash Day:
- On clean, damp hair, section your hair and generously spray the onion juice directly onto your scalp and thinning edges.
- Gently massage for 3–5 minutes.
- Leave on for 20–45 minutes (or overnight if you can tolerate the smell).
- Rinse thoroughly with cool water, then follow with your regular shampoo and conditioner.
- Use 1–2 times per week.

Pro Tips for Natural Hair (4A-4C):
- Mix with a little carrier oil (like jojoba or grapeseed) if the smell is too strong.
- Always do a patch test first.
- Pair it with protective styles and consistent moisture for best length retention results

Try it and tell me in the comments: Did you use the blender or grater method? How long did you leave it on?

Comment OIL if you want the oil recipe too because using both oil and juice will give you great results.
