๐ The second woman in Brown University history to hold professorial rank. A pioneering researcher. A dean who opened doors for women โ and named the sexism she saw along the way.
Meet our next 2026 WIBA Hall of Fame Inductee: Dr. Rosemary Pierrel-Sorrentino.
For a decade, she led Pembroke College through some of the most turbulent years in American higher education โ all while running a federally funded research program on auditory learning and mentoring the next generation of scientists.
When her work as Dean was done, she walked away on her own terms and went back to the lab.
That's who she was. Someone who never needed recognition to do what needed doing.
Join us at to celebrate her legacy. ๐

โ๐พ Breaking Barriers, Enhancing Collaboration, and Adapting to Change as Black Women in ABA
Through personal narratives and structured dialogue, this panel examines the professional advancement, workplace dynamics, and systemic barriers Black women navigate in ABA โ across generations, training experiences, and leadership roles.
Drawing on ACT principles, panelists explore how values-based decision-making can guide career transitions and professional growth even when the path forward isn't clear or the systems aren't built for you.
You'll leave with:
๐น Insight into generational differences in training, leadership, and representation in ABA
๐น Actionable steps to foster inclusive environments in academic programs, organizations, and professional spaces

Knowing the ethics code and practicing ethically under pressure are two very different things.
For women in ABA leadership, the conditions that make ethical decision-making harder โ supervision strain, productivity pressure, competing contingencies, invisible emotional labor โ are often baked into the systems they're leading.
Allyson Mullins, MS, BCBA, LBA, COBA, NBC-HWC addresses this at :
โ๏ธ When High Standards Meet High Demand: Ethical Leadership for Women in ABA
This session bridges ethics code knowledge to ethics-in-practice โ examining how environmental contingencies, workload, and reinforcement histories shape ethical behavior in real leadership contexts.
You'll learn to:
๐น Analyze ethical decision-making as behavior shaped by systemic contingencies โ not just individual judgment
๐น Identify setting events that increase ethical vulnerability in supervisory and leadership roles
๐น Apply OBM strategies to design workplace contingencies that support sustainable, values-aligned leadership
Clinician well-being isn't a personal responsibility to manage in your off-hours. It's an organizational variable โ and an ethical one.

Sleep disruption. Mood shifts. Memory fluctuations. Emotional reactivity. Now add a full clinical caseload, supervision responsibilities, and a high-performance field that rarely slows down.
Perimenopause and menopause affect a substantial portion of the behavior-analytic workforce. We just don't talk about it professionally. That changes at .

๐ฅ Hot Flashes and High Stakes: Navigating Perimenopause and Menopause as Behavior Analysts
This session applies a behavior-analytic lens to the physiological, cognitive, and behavioral changes of perimenopause and menopause โ and what they mean for professional functioning, well-being, and retention in the field.
You'll explore:
๐น Self-management strategies and environmental accommodations grounded in ABA
๐น Peer support models for sustainable performance
๐น How to advocate for workplace adjustments that promote psychological safety and retention
Practical. Science-based. Long overdue.

ASD diagnoses among Black children nearly doubled between 2017 and 2021. Yet over 45% of BCBAs report inadequate graduate training for working with racially and culturally diverse families โ and 62% received no such training during supervision.
The families are here. The preparation isn't keeping up.
Nia Flowers, BCBA, LBA addresses this gap directly at :
โ๏ธ Advancing Cultural Responsiveness in ABA: A Diversity-Affirming Framework for Ethical Practice
This session introduces the Diversity-Affirming Evidence-Based Practice Decision-Making Model (Wilczynski, 2024) โ a framework for ethical, culturally attuned clinical decision-making grounded in the BACB Ethics Code.
You'll explore:
๐น How to apply the model in everyday clinical practice to reduce cultural bias and increase cultural awareness
๐น Diversity evaluation tools and self-assessments built from the framework
๐น How the model supports adherence to BACB ethical codes 1.07, 1.10, and 2.14
This isn't a lecture about why cultural responsiveness matters. It's a practical, reflective framework for doing it better โ starting now.
