WORD OF THE WEEK: ANAGEN

Anagen is the active growth phase of your hair cycle and basically the golden phase for waxing.

Your hair actually goes through a few different stages:

Anagen — Growing: The hair is actively growing and still connected at the root. This is the phase we love to catch it in when waxing.

Catagen — Transitioning: The hair stops actively growing and begins to detach.

Telogen — Resting: The hair is hanging out in the follicle, basically waiting for its time to go.

Exogen — Shedding: The old hair sheds and eventually the cycle starts all over again.

So why does this matter for your wax?

Not every hair is in the same stage at the same time. When you stay consistent with your appointments, we have a better chance of repeatedly catching hairs in that anagen phase.

Over time, that can mean finer-feeling regrowth, less hair between appointments and longer-lasting smoothness.

So when your waxer tells you to stick to that 4–6 week schedule, there really is a method to the madness!
