August marks 3 years since The Hive Salon was born! 🐝💛

I am so incredibly proud to have created an inclusive space where kids can simply be kids - where they can feel comfortable, accepted, and celebrated exactly as they are.

Thank you to every family who has trusted me, supported my little salon, and allowed me to be part of your lives over the years. It truly means the world to me to watch your families grow, one haircut at a time.

Good morning August!

July was full of adventure! I am on vacation this week, making some new memories with my own family. Once I return it will be the calm before the storm.

August 18th kicks off the official back to school season and I’ve adjusted my schedule to make sure everyone can start the year off looking fresh and ready! At the moment there are plenty of spots still available. My schedule is like a river, ever changing with ebbs and flows- if you can’t find a spot, use the waitlist option or send me a message.

Project Lifesaver®: Bringing Loved Ones Home Safely

For many families of Autistic individuals or those living with cognitive differences, wandering (also called elopement) is a real safety concern. A child or adult can become disoriented or leave a safe environment in just moments.

Project Lifesaver® is a life-saving program that provides a personalized radio transmitter worn on the wrist or ankle. If a participant goes missing, specially trained law enforcement officers use radio tracking equipment to locate them quickly—often in far less time than traditional search methods.

Why is this important?
✅ Faster search and rescue response
✅ Reduces the risk of injury or tragedy
✅ Provides peace of mind for families and caregivers
✅ Supports the safety and independence of participants

Many sheriff’s offices and law enforcement agencies across New York participate in Project Lifesaver. Contact your local sheriff’s office to find out if the program is available in your county and learn about eligibility and enrollment. If your county does not currently offer the program, ask about other local wandering prevention resources.

I know BSpa is a bit of a drive for some of my clients. But we 💚 it here! Great restaurants in town, multiple great playgrounds nearby, a stones throw from Saratoga, and BSpa always has the cheapest gas in the CapDist. If you’re coming here anyway don’t forget to fill up!

As you may know I am an almost* paleontologist at this point…We got a sneak peek of this on Wednesday, highly recommend!! It has some animatronic dinosaurs I hadn’t even heard of. I would say this is pretty good for kids under 12, not too scary for the littles. Bonus- it’s free!

Congratulations to Miss Tricia as she has been awarded with The Woman of Distinction Award of 2026 by Assemblywoman Carrie Woerner. Tricia has earned this award for her years in su***de and gun violence prevention, her work with the Saratoga Spa State Park, as a volunteer Girl Scout leader, and most importantly- for providing compassionate hair care and creating this space for families to receive safe, private, judgment-free haircuts.

It is truly an honor to be in the ranks of so many incredible, inspiring women in our community. Thankful that Harper was able to tag along and be in the room with so many amazing female role models.

It takes a village to raise a child, and I am so thankful so many Capital District families have let me be a part of theirs.

☀️We’re heading into the crazy months: May and June. Sports schedules, dance recitals, graduations, weddings, and end of school year activities, then it’s vacation season- it’s easy to forget to book haircuts. This is your evergreen reminder to get something on the books. My schedule does fill up pretty quickly but I keep some spots available. If you can’t find a spot just reach out in messenger or use the “Waitlist” option to get notified immediately if a spot opens up.
🚩Please make sure you’re booking the correct service with the right amount of time. If you need 2 haircuts you’ll need to book 2 haircuts. If you want a shampoo, haircut, blowdry you’ll need to book for a full service haircut. If your kiddo struggles with or doesn’t like a haircut, please book for a 30/45/60 minute service. If the app is glitchy just reach out and I’ll help you book.
