Part 3: The Scalp Reset 🧖🏽‍♂️✨

After the first shampoo, it was time for one of the most important steps in this entire process; scalp exfoliation.

Even after shampooing, there was still stubborn buildup clinging to the scalp from 5 months of wearing the same protective style. That’s where exfoliation comes in. This step helps lift away remaining debris, excess oil, dead skin cells, and product buildup while creating a cleaner, healthier environment for the scalp.

A healthy scalp is the foundation of healthy hair. That’s why I don’t rush through this part of the service. Every client deserves a thorough, intentional approach not just clean hair, but a clean, healthy scalp.

This is why scalp care isn’t a luxury… it’s a necessity.

What you’re seeing is a combination of buildup, shed hair, lint, and debris that accumulated over time. This is exactly why I stress that protective styles still require regular maintenance. The style may protect your hair, but your scalp still needs consistent care and attention.

As a licensed Senior Cosmetologist, my goal is never to shame anyone it’s to educate, restore, and promote healthy hair from the scalp up.

Y’all… when your own cousin/ brother thinks a protective style means “I’ll get back to it eventually.” 🤦🏽‍♀️😂

Yes, this is my brother, and yes… he kept his hair in for 5 months before coming back to see his sister. Let’s just say I had a few conversations with this joker. 😩🤣

But here’s the real reason I’m sharing this: to educate, not embarrass. Life happens, and sometimes self-care gets pushed to the back burner. Today, I celebrate 43 years of life, and my heart is filled with nothing but gratitude.

This past year has reminded me that life is not promised, every day is truly a gift, and God’s grace is sufficient through every season. I’ve experienced challenges, victories, lessons, healing, growth, and countless blessings that could only have come from Him.

At 43, I am not just getting older I’m flourishing. Flourishing in faith. Flourishing in wisdom. Flourishing in purpose. Flourishing in love. Flourishing in the woman God has called me to be.

I am grateful for every prayer God answered, every door He opened, every door He closed, every lesson He taught me, and every moment He carried me when I didn’t have the strength to carry myself.
