Bringing wellness to my clients through massage is the most rewarding "job" I've ever had. πŸ’†πŸ™

10/02/2026

Yesterday, I worked a corporate wellness event in Frederick and decided to stay out that way a little longer to give one of my clients a massageβ€”he's kind enough to make the trip to my practice in Baltimore, so I brought the practice to him this time! πŸ’†β€β™€οΈ

I set up shop in a cozy cabin at Gambrill State Park, complete with air conditioning because apparently fall forgot to show up yet. πŸ˜‚πŸ‚ 🌞 🌲

Massage, peaceful woods, and a little cabin retreat made for such a tranquil experience for both of us. Nature + massage = Enhanced Healing πŸŒ„ 🌳 πŸ’† 🧘

Can you tell which shoulder was worked first? πŸ‘€πŸ’†β€β™€οΈ
This client treats herself to a monthly maintenance massages and has been putting her body to work latelyβ€”jiu-jitsu classes, heavier deadlifts, and plenty of gardening. 🌱πŸ₯‹πŸ‹οΈ

Today's focus was the shoulder girdle, including muscles like the:

Upper trapezius – often tight from lifting and stress.
Levator scapulae – helps elevate the shoulder blade and is a common source of neck stiffness.
Rhomboids – retract the shoulder blades and work hard during pulling exercises.
Infraspinatus and teres minor – rotator cuff muscles that stabilize the shoulder.
Posterior deltoid – assists with pulling and overhead movements.

When these muscles are tight, they can pull the shoulder forward or upward, limit range of motion, and even contribute to neck discomfort.

πŸ“Έ In these photos, one shoulder has already been treated while the other hasn't.
Can you spot which side was worked first? What differences do you notice?
(Hint: Look at the height of the shoulder, the contour around the shoulder blade, and how relaxed the muscles appear.)

It's always fun seeing how much change can happen after working just one side! πŸ‘πŸ™ƒ ✨

This morning in PT, I had my usual routine and decided to check off something that has been on my β€œI really want to learn more about this” list.

Let me just say… apparently my jaw had some things to say. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜ 😬

I had the inside of my mouth β€œfishhooked” pretty good while she worked on this for my TMJ and migraines. She went after the lateral pterygoid, which can apparently make people cry from pain or have some sort of emotional release.🎣 πŸͺπŸ˜ 😒 🀣

Well… I didn’t cry, but I definitely had a few moments of questioning my life choices. πŸ˜‚πŸ™‹ ❔ ⁉️

The right side wasn’t too bad, even though that’s the side where I get my temporalis migraines. Then she got to the left side and found some serious trigger points.

HOLY. CRAP. 😳

Was it invasive? Yep. Did it feel like my jaw was filing a formal complaint against me? Also yep. πŸ˜‚

But hours later, I can STILL feel the effects. And honestly, it’s pretty incredible to think about how much tension we carry in our jaws. Between stress, clenching, grinding, and everything else life throws at us, our poor jaws are apparently out here holding the entire emotional weight of the world. πŸ˜‚

I can officially say… I’m a believer in this work.πŸ’† βœ… β˜‘οΈ

And now I’m thinking I might need to get certified in Buccal Massage because apparently I’ve found another rabbit hole to fall down. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚πŸ° πŸ•³οΈ

Just… WOW. The human body is freaking amazing.
