Congratulations, our German 🛥️Gorch Fock has won the "Five Sisters Race" around Cape Cod 🎉 The sisters are: USA's "Eagle"; Portugal's "Sagre"; Romania's "Mircea". We had them all here in June in Baltimore for the Sail250 year celebration.
Glückwunsch, "Gorch Fock"! Das Schulschiff der Deutschen Marine hat das "Rennen der Schwestern" gewonnen! 🇩🇪
Vier baugleiche Großsegler, 60 Seemeilen und ein anspruchsvoller Kurs rund um Cape Cod: Bei der "Five Sisters Trophy" segelte die Crew nach rund siebeneinhalb Stunden als Erste ins Ziel. Satte 38 Minuten vor der amerikanischen "Eagle", eine Stunde vor der portugiesischen "Sagres" und sogar zwei Stunden vor der rumänischen "Mircea".
Die bei Blohm+Voss gebauten Schwesterschiffe traten zum zweiten Mal überhaupt gegeneinander an. Die erste Regatta fand vor genau 50 Jahren statt – damals zum 200. Geburtstag der USA. Auch damals gewann die... die "Gorch Fock". 😉
