Things I wish people knew as a licensed esthetician
A razor at home is not the same as dermaplaning. Dermaplaning is using a medical grade blade to effectively remove peach fuzz and dead skin.
A tan is sun damage, I said what I said. No tan is a good tan.
Spot treatments like sulfur for pimples instead of pimple patches. Dot a little spot treatment on overnight and watch your pimples get better.
Sunscreen doesn’t cause cancer, not wearing it does.
Washing your face after brushing your teeth can help with anyone who struggles with lip pimples or pimples around the mouth area.

Dark spots, sun damage, scars, etc can be a pest to deal with. Luckily there’s ingredients in skincare you can use to improve pigment issues
Azelaic acid - used often to treat acne, rosacea, and PIH (post inflammatory hyperpigmentation)
Kojic acid - wildly used in skincare to lighten pigmentation by inhibiting melanin production
Arbutin- reduces PIH, age spots, and acne scars; considered a safer option to hydroquinone
Transexamic acid - actively fades dark spots, melasma, and PIH; blocks pigment producing pathways
