They didn’t just work in the kitchen—they invented in it. 🔥👩🏾‍🍳 From dough kneaders and rollers to cooking apparatus and corn shellers, Black women were creating tools that made everyday life easier long before modern kitchen gadgets.
History remembers the inventions. Blackwashed makes sure you remember the women behind them. 🖤📜
Where did we go wrong?
Taking MELANIN SINCE THE 1600s
HOLLYWOOD STOLE HER WORK 🎬🖤
Her name was Sophia Stewart.
Before The Matrix and The Terminator became Hollywood blockbusters, Stewart had written a science-fiction work called The Third Eye.
She later claimed that elements of her work were used in those films without her permission. She took her fight to federal court—but ultimately lost her copyright case.
A court ruling is part of the record. But so is her name, her work, and her claim.
Whether you believe Hollywood wronged her or not, her story deserves to be known.
Sophia Stewart.
The Third Eye.
Remember the name.
THE 1200s: BEFORE AMERICA 🇺🇸
Long before the United States existed, powerful civilizations were already thriving across the land.
In the 1200s, Mississippian societies built massive earthen mounds, developed large communities, practiced agriculture, and maintained trade networks stretching across hundreds of miles.
Cahokia became one of the largest urban centers in North America.
This wasn’t an empty land waiting to be discovered. Civilizations were already here.
đź–¤ History goes deeper than the version we were taught.
The number of black lives lost unjustly since the beginning of time is infinite.
