For every nomination, we asked for a story that described what made this School Lunch Hero nominee extraordinary. This is Teofila’s story: “Teofila (Chica) Reyes is a phenomenal leaders. She goes above and beyond to make sure the students receive a healthy, full meal. With all of the supply chain issues schools faced this year; Chica would not allow that to stop her from feeding the students. When bread did not come in her delivery order, she made whole-grain bread from scratch for the students. She did the same thing when breadsticks did not come in. Regardless of what is asked of her, Chica will always respond with a smile. She is a true School Lunch Hero!”
