✨Ambassador Spotlight ✨
Julie G moved to Solstice in June of 2020.
Originally from Illinois, just outside of Chicago, Julie’s story started long before she was born. Her parents were childhood sweethearts, and both sets of her grandparents knew each other from a young age as well.
Her parents were originally from the Seattle and so after the war, they moved back to the area.
For her career, Julie started out as a teacher in Southern California and served in that role for 16 years until she moved back to Washington, ultimately settling on Orcas Island, where she and her husband ran two gift shops for many years.
For her third act, she worked at Macy’s for 24 years, managing the dresses, coats and suits section and being a union advocate for staff.
The thing she will tell you she is most proud of though, is the 18 years she spent caregiving for her mom, who lived to be 98 years old.
After her mom’s passing, and with the start of Covid, Julie felt isolated in her home alone and was finding it hard to get maintenance people to come and support her.
She moved to Solstice and enjoys it because it feels like a big family and she loves people.
She enjoys being an ambassador not for the title, but because she has always been a volunteer and enjoys helping others. 💖

✨Ambassador Spotlight ✨
Anne B moved to Solstice in October 2025.
Originally from Scotland, Anne was a trained draftsman for a marine engineering company - following in the footsteps of her dad.
She immigrated to the US with her three kids in 1967 and settled in Seattle close to her sister. After moving to Bellingham Anne worked at the Leopold on the switchboard and she says that people liked her accent so they promoted her to the sales manager, managing conventions at the building. She also spent 24 years working at the science center in Seattle managing everything related to people - hiring, training, and more.
Anne enjoys Solstice because of the staff and because of the people that she meets who call Solstice home.
She loves being an ambassador because she gets to be a part of new residents welcoming committee and let them know that although this is different and that changes are hard, they’re going to make it through and that they have chosen a great next step. 🙂
