Mai has lived through enough to know how quickly life can change. She grew up in Vietnam during the war, experienced deep loss in her family, and carried those lessons with her into every chapter that followed. Now, in her 80s and still working at Princess Nails in Berkley, her outlook is beautifully simple: Don’t take today for granted. Do your best while you’re here. And be kind.

Pretty nails might bring someone in once...
but according to Mai... respect is what brings them back... again and again to Princess Nails.

Mai will be the first to tell you there are plenty of talented nail techs out there. But she believes the reason people keep coming back to Princess Nails, and sometimes from a long way away — has less to do with polish and more to do with how they’re treated.

Because you never really know what someone is carrying. So Mai keeps it simple: respect their feelings, treat them with respect, and it will all be good.

Mai is a community builder!

The mothers and daughters. The husbands and wives. The families who drive a little farther because they trust her...
and keep coming back year after year.

That’s why, even in her 80s, Mai still shows up.

And as long as she’s able, she says she’ll keep coming back to the people who have become so much more than customers.

She’s in her 80s. She still comes to work. And after everything she’s lived through, Mai has a pretty simple message for the rest of us:
