July thank you for being good to us.
Busy days in the salon, content days with the team, camping and swimming.
A few first for the kids like star gazing and late night s’mores.
In the salon we celebrates Alexis’ 1 year workaversary and I am so grateful for the past year of growth as a leader and mentor.
I got to celebrate my 30th friendaversary with my childhood best friend and saw The All American Rejects during my first trip in Vegas.
It was a a month of memories and milestones. Can wait to see how August shakes out. 🪩
No pony, bo problem.
This hack has saved me on countless occasions.
You’ll want to save this trick when you need your hair off your back or your neck.
Don’t know how to braid? Totally okay, it’s easy to learn so shoot me a DM and I’ll send a video walking you through it.
This is the summer you create memories. Not just for you, but for them.
I used to never get in the pool with my kids because I didn’t want to chance ruining my hair extensions.
Well, I’m here to tell you to get in the water and have fun. With a little bit of prep work and a protective style you don’t need to be worried about ruining your extensions with a little fun in the pool.
Tools and products you’ll need are:
- a spray bottle with clean water
- your favorite detangler/leave-in conditioner of choice
(If you need options, shoot me a DM)
- a hydrating mask
- detangling brush
- elastic bands
You’re going to take your hair and divide it into two sections like you’re going to create ponytails then you are going to spray your hair with water until it is damp (almost like you towel dried it).
Next you’re going to spray in your leave-in conditioner and brush through. After brushing your hair, you’re going to take your hydrating mask and apply a generous amount from mid lengths to end making sure it’s fully saturated.
Last year, going to secure your hair with elastic bands, every 2 inches creating a bubble braid. To create a little bit more of a style with it, go ahead and gently pull each section between the elastic bands to create a bubble look.
Once you get home, you’re going to thoroughly rinse your hair with clean water, then clean, cleanse your hair twice with a clarifying shampoo, and finish with a hydrating mask.
Now get in the water and make a splash!
(The great thing about this prep and style is you can wear it to the beach, the lake, hiking and so many more outdoor activities so you don’t have to skip making memories.)
My ponytail is so thin.
No matter what my hair always falls flat.
My hair never grows past a certain length.
I wish I could add color to my hair without the damage.
My hair feels so much thinner.
These are common challenges women struggle with, but you don’t have to.
Extensions are easily one of the best ways to add instant fullness, pops of color, and length all while still looking natural.
If you’re currently struggling with your hair the DMs are always open. I am happy to chat about any solutions and create a plan specifically for you.
Same industry, two time zones, and 2 leaders showing up differently.
Robin is no longer behind the chair and is leading her team full time at Hey Hello Hair Co in Tacoma, Washington. I’m still behind the chair three days a week while mentoring my team at Fresh Hair Studio in Billings, MT.
What’s kept us connected across all those miles? Being apart of The Thriving Stylist and Thriving Leadership community (thanks Hairstylist & Salon Business Coaching Seva 😉). We’re reminded that leadership and success looks different for everybody no matter the season you’re in. You can have children who are grown and out of the house or you can be a working mom still in the thick of it with young children.
No matter what season we’re in, our goal is constantly growing, inspiring and being a part of each others leadership journey.
When you surround yourself with a community of like minded leaders who are continually raising the bar, hungry for growth and showing up for their team, you’re bound for success. You just have to put in the work and stay consistent.
The most valuable thing to have come out of the Thriving Stylist community has been the connection and friendship between Robin and I. No matter the difference in our goals, how many team members we have, or the distance separating us we’re always making time to celebrate and support each other along the way.
So this is our friendly reminder to not compare yourselves to others, especially when you’re in different seasons & time zones. 🪩
For as long as I can remember she’s been blonde and within the last year she needed a change. She wanted less color maintenance, healthier hair and length to give her all the confidence.
What she didn’t want to lose was soft pieces of a lighter color peeling through the ends, without lightening her hair.
So we came up with a plan together. She chose a rich brunette close to her natural color and used hair extensions to add a lighter color to keep her hair from looking flat.
The best part? Her maintenance appointments are booked on her terms. She can prioritize her extension move ups AND gets the depth and dimension she loves without the commitment of frequent color appointments.
She loved being a blonde, but being a brunette? It fits her style, life and personality. 🪩

It took me 35 years to finally say this out loud and I wonder what I would be saying today if I hadn’t hesitated?
I’ve had Hypothyroidism since I was 12 and Hashimoto’s since 2020. I experience PPD & PPA after my daughter was born, so you could say I was desperate to feel like myself again.
In 2021 I finally got hair extensions because I really wanted long wavy hair.
But if I’m being honest, the deeper reason was because I wanted to feel beautiful and more confident, not for anyone else, but for myself. I wasn’t sure if extensions would “fix” this or not, but I decided to give it a try.
Did I feel beautiful and more confident after that first install? Yes, but now it just hits differently.
After 5 years of wearing hair extensions I have never felt more confident and beautiful, with or without them. The extensions give me the length and style I’ve always dreamt of having, but feeling beautiful? That’s the different part.
I turn 36 next month and for the first time I actually feel beautiful inside and out, like I really enjoy who I am and who I am becoming. The experiences I’ve had in this life have helped me build my confidence over time, but with the extensions I stand a little taller, feel more put together, and polished. I feel confident enough in my abilities to take a risk and I really love my hair. So it’s just the cherry on top.
The hair extensions were just the beginning and the push I needed to have hair I loved so that I could start the journey of really becoming me.
So no, extensions are not something I do just out of vanity, and if it were, I am doing it for me and no one else.
You don’t need validation or permission from anyone to do something that makes you feel more like you.
A Saturday I didn’t expect and one I will always remember 🫶🏼
This whole series has been building up to this Part 3, the final reveal.
Hannah came into this wanting to feel better about herself, to put herself first, and to do something for herself in a season that’s been demanding a lot of her. She wanted hair to her bust, a soft low maintenance color, and the ability to keep wearing her hair straight every single day, just like she always has.
So, the plan we landed on gave her exactly that: 2 rows of 18” for the length she wanted, a soft dimensional color that is low maintenance, and a cut that blends seamlessly into a straight, sleek style she can wear every day.
If you haven’t seen parts 1 and 2, go check those out for her full story.
