Today is the International Day of Friendship. We didn't need a reason to talk about this, but we'll take one. Funny, we've been chatting it up about this topic all week.

The friendships that come out of this sisterhood are not the polite kind. They're not the wave-across-the-parking-lot kind. They're the kind that get forged when a room full of women who've buried husbands, beaten cancer, raised grandbabies, and kept going anyway finally sit down next to each other and realize they don't have to explain a thing.

That's a friendship you can't manufacture.
You can only walk into the room and let it find you.

A lot of the women in The Circle will tell you they showed up not looking for any of this. They came for the pageant. They left with people who text them at 9 p.m. when the house is too quiet. People who save them a seat. People who worry about them on the drive home.

You don't decide to belong to a sisterhood like that.
You just look up one day and realize you already do.

The Ohio Department of Aging returns for its tenth year with a brand-new location that’s bigger, better, and cooler than ever. Now featuring NFL Alumni Health, this year’s Expo will once again offer FREE health screenings, wellness demonstrations, and lifestyle programs that promote healthy aging and independence, provided by dozens of state and community partners. Visitors of all ages will learn from experts about the choices they can make throughout their lives to stay healthy, active, and engaged. Come make memories and set new health and wellness goals at the Healthy Aging Expo.
