# # What NAD+ Actually Does

NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme in every cell. Your body uses it for:

- **Energy (ATP):** Helps mitochondria turn food into fuel.
- **DNA repair:** Supports daily repair of cellular damage.
- **Cellular longevity:** Influences aging, inflammation, and resilience.

When NAD+ is low, you may notice:

- Fatigue that sleep doesn’t fix
- Brain fog or low motivation
- Slower recovery
- More aches and “I’m aging fast”

# # Why NAD+ Drops With Age (Half by age 40)

- Ongoing DNA damage from stress, toxins, UV, and poor sleep
- Chronic inflammation and metabolic strain
- Mitochondrial wear and tear over time

# # # Injectable NAD+

Small shots into fat or muscle, similar to a B12 injection.

- Slower, steadier absorption
- Smaller doses at once
- Often better tolerated in sensitive patients

Commonly reported when properly dosed and monitored:

- Gradual increase in daytime energy
- More mental clarity and focus
- Better workout recovery

# # # IV NAD+

Infused directly into the bloodstream over 60–180 minutes.

Potential upsides:

- More noticeable boost in energy and clarity
- Faster onset after a series of treatments

But... possibly

- Nausea, cramping, vomiting
- Chest tightness, headache, flushing
- Feeling wired or panicky
- Blood pressure changes

# # Why Oral NAD+ Isn’t The Same

Over‑the‑counter NAD+, NR, or NMN are not equivalent to injections.

- The gut and liver break down a large portion.
- Only a fraction impacts systemic NAD+ levels.

# # Who May Benefit Most

- Burned‑out high performers under chronic stress
- Adults 40+ focused on aging well and recovery
- Patients in structured recovery programs (with medical + psychological care)
- Athletes or very active individuals managing intense training
- Carefully screened patients with complex fatigue or post‑viral symptoms

# # Safety, Sourcing & “Too Good To Be True” Deals

Because NAD+ is trendy, it’s easy to find:

- Black‑market vials and questionable online pharmacies
- Clinics pushing one‑size‑fits‑all high‑dose IVs
- Improper compounding that irritates tissue or veins
- No real screening, monitoring, or backup plan if you react poorly

Another med spa opens down the street. Fancy build‑out, aggressive menu, “covered” by a quick doctor signature. Then Indiana’s SB 282 hits and you quietly wonder: Is my practice actually legal?

You trained for years, invested in equipment, built a reputation—and one misinterpreted bill could put your license on the line. Across Indiana, providers are hearing a different story from every consultant, MSO, or lawyer friend. Many of those stories are wrong.

Think “rational practice.” Everything lines up: ownership, delegation, supervision, charting, and compensation all fit within a lawful, logical structure. If you showed your model to the Medical Licensing Board, it would make sense.

An irrational practice looks good on Instagram but collapses under legal pressure: a barely present “medical director,” estheticians injecting because “they’re really good,” non‑medical owners steering clinical decisions, protocols copied from another state. SB 282 doesn’t just tweak the rules; it changes the equation.

SB 282 clarifies who can do what, under whose supervision, and makes it clear that medical care stays medical, even in a spa. Neurotoxin, filler, PDO threads, lasers that affect tissue health, prescription skincare, hormones—these are medical acts.

Delegation must stay within Indiana practice acts. Physicians can only delegate to people whose license and training support that task. The biggest myth? “I’m a physician, so I can delegate to anyone.” Estheticians are not medical providers. Their license covers cosmetic skin care, not diagnosis, prescription, or invasive procedures. Training doesn’t replace licensure.

What’s really at stake isn’t just a fine. It’s board investigations, probation or suspension, insurance fallout, civil liability—and, in extreme cases, criminal exposure for enabling unlicensed practice.

Use a rational checklist: Who owns what? Who provides which services, and does their license clearly support each one? How is supervision documented? Do your consents and marketing match reality? If you can’t answer cleanly, you don’t just have a marketing problem—you have a legal one.

Your Instagram isn’t on the line. Your license is.

⚠️ THE PROBLEM ISN’T THE GLP-1. IT’S THE GLP-1 WITHOUT A PLAN.

GLP-1 medications can be transformative—but when the goal becomes losing weight as quickly as possible, powerful appetite suppression can quietly become undernutrition. 💉📉

Severe calorie restriction, inadequate protein and no resistance training increase the likelihood that weight loss will include lean tissue—not just body fat.

The scale may drop, while the patient experiences:

💪 Loss of strength and muscle
😴 Fatigue and reduced function
🧬 Hair shedding or nutrient deficiencies
👁️ Under-eye hollowing and facial-volume loss
〰️ More visible skin laxity

These changes are not exclusive to GLP-1 medications. They can occur with any rapid, poorly supported weight loss.

🚩 In my opinion, inappropriate prescribing includes:

• Escalating medication despite adequate results or inadequate food intake
• Celebrating that a patient “can barely eat”
• Providing no protein or hydration plan
• Ignoring resistance training and lean-mass preservation
• Failing to monitor symptoms, nutrition and body composition
• Treating the number on the scale as the only measure of success

✅ Responsible prescribing should include individualized dosing, nutritional assessment, realistic protein goals, side-effect management, resistance training and regular follow-up.

The goal should never be to make someone smaller at any cost. It should be to improve health while protecting muscle, function, metabolism and long-term results. ✨

Medication is a tool. Comprehensive care is the treatment.

Are you being given a prescription—or an actual plan? 👇

WHAT’S REALLY IN THE SYRINGE?

The most important question before a toxin appointment may not be, “How many units do I need?”

It may be: “Can you show me exactly what you’re using?”

Counterfeit or unapproved toxin can lead to more than an undesirable cosmetic result—it may cause serious systemic symptoms.

Before treatment, ask:

✓ Is the product FDA-approved?
✓ Was it purchased through an authorized U.S. source?
✓ Can I see the unopened box and vial?
✓ Who prescribed it?
✓ Is my injector licensed and appropriately trained?

At Vanished Aesthetics and Wellness, patient trust is earned—not assumed. With more than 15 years in aesthetic medicine, I have built our practice around transparency, product traceability, anatomy-based treatment, ongoing education and consistent safety protocols.

Every injection is a medical procedure. Your safety should never be the bargain.

Save this carousel—and share it with someone considering an injectable treatment.

Hair changes during hormone shifts or weight loss deserve a plan built around the cause.

At Vanished, we’ve added Nutrafol as an option in our hormone and hair-loss care plans. We assess potential drivers—rapid weight loss, low protein or iron intake, thyroid concerns, scalp conditions, and pattern hair loss—before recommending a supplement or other treatment.

Why Nutrafol? Depending on the formula, it combines botanicals such as ashwagandha, saw palmetto, curcumin, and tocotrienols. We pair it with a scalp assessment, adequate nutrition, and individualized care.

In a six-month placebo-controlled study of 40 women with thinning hair, 80.8% of participants taking Nutrafol Women reported improved overall hair growth. Researchers measured a 10.8% increase in total hair count in the studied area, versus 3% with placebo. A separate 2026 study of 180 women reported hair growing 18–37% faster than baseline across four formulations; it did not include a placebo group.

These are published study results—not a Vanished patient satisfaction rate or proof that Nutrafol treats GLP-1-related shedding. Individual results vary.
