Why I Use Different Ayurvedic Medicinal Oils in Massage & Bodywork
One question my clients often ask me is, “What kind of oil do you use?”
In Ayurveda, oil is not just oil. Different traditional Ayurvedic oils are used for different purposes, depending on the person’s body, constitution, discomfort, and individual needs.
For example, Mahanarayan oil is a traditional Ayurvedic herbal oil often used in massage for muscular tension, stiffness, and joint discomfort.
Ayurveda also considers the three doshas — Vata, Pitta, and Kapha — when choosing oils and planning bodywork. For example, warm sesame-based oils are traditionally used in Vata-balancing practices, while other oils may be more suitable depending on the person and the treatment.
In my practice, I choose oils according to the individual rather than using the same oil for everyone. I consider your needs, the areas of tension, your body’s response, and the purpose of the session.
This is one of the things I value about traditional Ayurvedic bodywork: the oil, the touch, and the treatment are chosen with the individual in mind.
If you have questions about the Ayurvedic oils I use, you are welcome to ask me during your next session.

🏈 What does your body need to keep performing?
Would you like to experience what Therapeutic Ayurveda can do for your body?
Athletes train hard. But performance isn’t only about training harder — it is also about recovery, mobility, balance, and giving the body time to restore.
At Therapeutic Ayurveda, I work with each person individually, using traditional Ayurvedic bodywork and restorative techniques to support:
• Muscle recovery and relaxation
• Mobility and flexibility
• Athletic maintenance
• Stress and nervous-system relaxation
• Deeper rest and restoration
• Managing everyday aches and physical tension
• Supporting your body as you work toward your personal goals
My approach is not a one-size-fits-all massage. I look at what your body is asking for today and tailor the session accordingly.
Whether you’re an athlete, weekend warrior, active professional, or simply someone who wants to feel better in your body — restoration is part of performance.

Friday in Boulder: make space to slow down.
Boulder has many ways to move, breathe, stretch and reconnect with yourself today—from yoga and movement practices to time outdoors.
But sometimes the body needs something different.
It needs to stop doing.
A therapeutic massage can create that quiet space where you are not exercising, working, scrolling or rushing to the next thing.
At Therapeutic Ayurveda Center, I work with each person individually—looking at where you hold tension, how you carry stress, and what your body may need from the session.
The goal isn’t simply a massage.
It is deeper rest, nervous-system relaxation, and creating the conditions for your body to restore itself.
Boulder, take a little time for yourself this Friday.

Boulder, let’s take care of the mind—not just the body.
Today’s Colorado news is a reminder that emotional and mental wellbeing deserves attention. Children’s Hospital Colorado is reporting a significant rise in mental-health-related emergency visits among young people, while Boulder County is putting more resources toward behavioral health and prevention. (Axios)
We often carry stress in the body before we even realize how much we are carrying.
A quiet hour of therapeutic Ayurvedic bodywork can be an opportunity to slow down, breathe, disconnect from constant stimulation, and reconnect with your body.
At Therapeutic Ayurveda Center in Boulder, I use traditional Ayurvedic massage techniques, warm herbal oils, Abhyanga and head massage to support relaxation and overall wellbeing.
Your emotional health and physical wellbeing are connected.
Sometimes, taking care of yourself starts with simply slowing down.
