That’s called the bloom! It’s a natural waxy coating that the blueberry produces to protect itself. The bloom helps keep moisture in, keeps the berry fresh longer, and is actually a sign of a fresh, high-quality blueberry.

How to Store Fresh Blueberries

✅ Store them in the refrigerator.
✅ Leave them unwashed until you’re ready to eat them.
✅ Wash just before serving or using them.

Washing blueberries before storing them can add moisture and cause them to spoil faster.
