A Juneteenth recap from Fort Greene Park 🤎

Last week was full of community, culture, conversation, small businesses, and so much Black joy. My Emollient was proud to be part of a space that celebrated legacy, connection, and the importance of showing up for one another.

Thank you The Lay Out and BuyBLK. ByBLK. for creating space for community, culture, and Black-owned businesses to be seen and supported. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, smelled the butters, asked questions, supported, and shared kind words. Brooklyn showed so much love.

Happy Juneteenth. May we continue to honor freedom, wellness, legacy, and community today and every day. 🤎

This weekend I had one of those full-circle days. 🤎
My grandmother came to visit me at the pop-up with my family, and having her there meant more than I can put into words. So much of My Emollient is rooted in care, family, tradition, and the kind of wisdom that gets passed down through generations.
Thank you to The Bloom Bar ㅤ♡ / bonheurstudio for creating space for small businesses, handmade goods, wellness, and community today. It was such a beautiful reminder of why these in-person moments matter.

“I’ve never seen anything like this for Black men.”

Those were the words of someone I shared an Uber with after the 5th Annual Black Men’s Health Festival by

He was visiting New York from Ohio for the weekend and had stumbled into the festival by chance while on his way somewhere else.

His reaction made me pause.

What he experienced was a space where Black men’s health wasn’t an afterthought. It was the focus. Conversations about wellness, prevention, self-care, and community were happening everywhere.

Watching so many people stop by the My Emollient table, ask questions about ingredients, and leave smiling with a bag in hand was a reminder that education and wellness go hand in hand.

These photos capture just a few of those moments.

Congratulations and everyone who made this event possible. Here’s to creating more spaces that center Black men’s health and inspire people to be intentional about caring for themselves. 🤎

I never planned to start a skincare brand.

After being diagnosed with eczema, I was told I would likely need medications and steroids long-term. But I kept asking myself: what if there was another way?

Growing up in Jamaica, my grandmother always had a remedy. “Go pick some cerasee. Go pick this bush. Go pick that bush.”

Years later, those lessons brought me back to my roots.

As I searched for ingredients that would help nourish dry, sensitive skin, one word kept appearing over and over again: *emollient.*

That’s when it clicked.

“This is my emollient.”

And that’s how My Emollient was born.

As we celebrate Caribbean Heritage Month, I’m grateful for the wisdom passed down through generations and the inspiration that helped shape this brand.

What’s something your family taught you that still impacts your life today?

Some of the best business advice doesn’t happen in a boardroom.
It happens around a dinner table.
This weekend, I had the opportunity to connect with a room full of brilliant Black women founders who are building, growing, pivoting, and dreaming big. The conversations were refreshing, inspiring, and exactly what I didn’t know I needed.
Here’s to community, collaboration, and creating spaces where founders can show up as their full selves. 🥂🖤
Thank you for curating this special moment.

“Sorry, I can’t this weekend”

Most weekends are spent packing inventory, setting up pop-ups, talking about non-toxic ingredients, and building this brand one market at a time ✨

And honestly? I wouldn’t trade it.

“RICH PEOPLE’S SCENT.”
A customer sent us this after trying Fleur D’Oranger + Peppermint yesterday and we haven’t stopped thinking about it.
“I am rich in spirit for now.”
That’s exactly what Fleur D’Oranger was created to feel like.
Soft luxury.
Warmth.
Comfort.
A beautiful scent experience rooted in real ingredients, never synthetic fragrance.
And paired with Peppermint? The perfect balance of refreshing + indulgent.
Thank you for every message, reorder, and review. 🤍
