Scalp Garden
Your scalp is a garden, your hair is the flower. 🪴
Captions are LOADED with knowledge, don’t skip them!
I really don’t judge.
You could tell me you’ve bleached your hair every month for 20 years, lived on energy drinks, or haven’t washed your scalp in a week.
I’m not here to make you feel bad.
I am incredibly curious though.
Because every little detail helps explain why your hair is behaving the way it is.
That’s the fun part for me.
One of the things I love most about this field is that there’s always more to learn.
This week was spent immersed in polarized light microscopy, studying hair in a way that most people never get to see.
I don’t chase certifications for the letters after my name. I chase them because every new skill helps me better understand what’s happening beneath the surface, and that means I can better serve the people who sit in my chair.
Here’s to staying curious. 🌿
One of my clients recently told me she almost canceled her Know Your Roots session because she was so anxious about what we might find.
I get it.
For a lot of people, the hardest part isn’t the hair loss. It’s the fear of hearing there’s nothing they can do, or finally having to face what’s been happening.
But by the end of the appointment, the emotion was completely different.
Instead of fear, there was relief.
Instead of uncertainty, there was a plan.
Instead of imagining the worst, she finally understood what was actually happening.
Whether the answer is simple or complex, having real information is almost always less scary than living in the unknown.
If you’ve been putting off getting your hair or scalp checked because you’re afraid of what you’ll hear, you’re not alone. I see that feeling all the time.
And I also get to see what happens when people finally have answers.
💚 Sometimes the biggest weight that gets lifted isn’t from your scalp. It’s from your mind.
A woman came to me because she was losing her hair.
We talked about her scalp, her symptoms, her history, and all the things she’d tried before. But as the conversation unfolded, it became clear that hair wasn’t the only thing she was struggling with.
There were questions that still hadn’t been answered.
There were symptoms that didn’t seem to fit neatly into one box.
Before she left, I encouraged her to keep asking questions and to keep looking for providers who were willing to be curious.
A few weeks later, she sent me an email.
Not to tell me her hair had grown back.
Not to tell me she’d found the perfect treatment.
She wrote to tell me she’d finally found a provider who listened.
And for the first time in a long time, she felt hopeful.
As a trichologist, I spend a lot of time talking about hair. But sometimes hair loss is the clue that leads to a much bigger conversation.
If you’ve ever felt dismissed, rushed, or like something wasn’t adding up, please don’t stop advocating for yourself.
You deserve providers who listen.
You deserve providers who are curious.
And you deserve answers.
Sometimes the biggest win isn’t finding the solution.
Sometimes it’s finding hope again. ❤️

From day one, I’ve been committed to making sure part of every dollar that comes through these spaces goes back into the community around us.
I post these drops for transparency and accountability, not attention.
If people are trusting us with their time, hair, stories, support, and hard earned money, I think some of that should circle back outward in a tangible way.
This drop alone was 523 pounds of food.
Just trying to build spaces that care for people beyond the appointment itself.
And honestly, every guest who books an appointment, grabs retail, comes to an event, or tells a friend about us is part of this too. ❤️

If the space feels calm, bright, or more welcoming, there’s a good chance Steph had something to do with it 💜
