Stratton – Harry Onis Stratton, Jr., age 81, of Callahan, Florida passed away on December 28, 2024. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on January 22, 1943, to the late U.S. Senator Harry O. Stratton, Sr. and Lois Hodges Stratton. Harry grew up on Stratton Road in Callahan where he gained many lifelong friendships. He graduated from Callahan Rambler School before joining the United States Air Force. After his military service, Harry attended Florida State University, paving the way for various career paths. He briefly worked as a TV cameraman, a bail bondsman, and an iron worker before finding his true calling in entrepreneurship. In Callahan, Harry opened The Market Place and Ice House, where he dedicated many years of hard work until his retirement. Following retirement, Harry continued being a businessman by establishing Bold Endeavor Racing, owning several Louisiana bred Quarter Horses. He and his wife, Mary enjoyed traveling to Louisiana to watch their horses race. Harry was known for his love of fishing and often enjoyed meeting up with his friends for breakfast at The Pig. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mike Stratton; and sister, Mary L. Stratton.

Harry leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Mary Brown Stratton; daughter, Karen Stratton Chitwood; bonus daughters, Trina (Danny) Bradley, Libby (Matt) Kast; brother, Mark (Lori) Stratton; sister, Lisa Stratton; grandchildren, CJ Caudill, Meagen (Johnny) Westendorf, Derek (Heather) Bradley, Kelsey Caudill, Chad (Chloe) Tison, Nate Kast, and Rebecca Kast; and many great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Harry’s Life will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Nassau Funeral Home with Pastor David King officiating. Interment will follow at Jones Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 6, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
