Here are 4 things you need to consider BEFORE you book that starter loc appointment :

1. ARE YOU READY? The loc journey just simply isn’t for the weak. The first few months will definitely test your patience and trust. Don’t book that appointment until you’re absolutely positive this step is for you.

2. Does the locticians schedule align with yours? The person who starts your locs, you typically would want to stick with them. So just make sure their schedule and your schedule align so when it’s time for a retwist you have access to them.

3. What is your loc inspiration? Understand everyone’s loc journey is different! But it is always helpful to have an idea in mind of what size parts you would like and starter loc method. The density and length of your natural hair does play a factor in achieving the look you want.

4. Do you currently have any scalp conditions? Dry scalp and seborrheic dermatitis are 2 total different things and need to be treated differently. Because locs aren’t washed as frequently as natural loose hair, make sure your loctician is privy to this information as it’s detrimental to your locking process. If the scalp continues to go untreated, further damage can be done and that can prevent your hair from locking and being healthy.
