Toushea Skincare

I'm often asked about which ingredients we use in our products and why. I enjoy educating our community about this, so I thought it would be great to spend time highlighting some of our components. We'll start with shea butter since it's in most of our products and even in our company name Toushea Skincare.

When I select ingredients, I'm always looking for ones that are gentle and nourishing. From the West African Shea tree (Vitellaria paradoxa), shea butter continues to be one of my absolute favorites. Rich in fatty acids, it helps relieve dry skin by creating a protective barrier that locks in moisture, leaving skin feeling soft.

Shea butter contains natural anti-inflammatory compounds that may help calm redness and irritation, making it a wonderful choice to soothe dry, chapped skin after prolonged exposure to the sun or other outdoor elements. It's also naturally rich in vitamins A and E —two powerful antioxidants that protect skin cells from free radicals that can lead to premature aging and dull-looking skin.

One reason shea butter is especially close to my heart is its potential to help soothe eczema. Because it's packed with nourishing fatty acids, it can help replenish and protect the skin's natural barrier. Many people also appreciate shea butter for its ability to improve the appearance of stretch marks and scars by supporting healthy, hydrated skin. A few of our products that are packed with this beautiful butter are our body soap, lip balm, and body lotion.

Happy Juneteenth and Father's Day weekend! This afternoon, we're set up at Carolina Beer Temple in Matthews from 1-5p. It's a nice day to sip a cold bev or have an ice cream cone, hang out, and support small businesses.
