This Fiddle Leaf Fig, aka Big Bertha, was a birthday gift to Karen from her husband, Pete. Big Bertha was small when Pete brought it to their home 22 years ago. Since then, big Bertha has thrived and grew quite large in their beloved sunroom. Sadly, Pete left this earth on August 25, 2025. Karen lost her best friend that day. She pondered whether or not to stay in the home she loved. After consideration, she made the agonizing decision to sell the home she loved. While downsizing, she had to let go of many things. She took as many plants as she could to her new home, but there was no room for big Bertha. I asked her what was going to happen with big Bertha. She said she didn’t know. That’s when I proposed moving big Bertha to Array Hair Design. We have plenty of the natural sunlight that that she’s accustomed to and you can see her when you come get your hair done. “You’ll need a truck.” she said. “We have a minivan with the backseats out” I replied. She proceeded to confirm with her realtor that it was still at the house. Karen and I go back about 30 years. I admire her strength and perseverance through the sorrow and grief she endured after losing her son 10 years ago and more recently her husband.
