"Upcycling espresso grounds into sustainable soaps ♻️🧼 | Brooklyn-based eco-friendly company 🌱”
Upcycling is alchemy.
Take something everyone calls waste. Find the way to turn it into gold. Think outside the box, invent something that didn't exist, and dedicate your life to the process of change.
For me the "waste" is spent espresso grounds from cafés around Brooklyn. The "gold" is a bar of soap that scrubs on one side and cleanses on the other. Still one person, still one kitchen, still chasing a world that's a little bit better.
Send this to someone who's building something out of nothing.
Exfoliate like never before. Make a better tomorrow, starting with yesterday's coffee.
every morning, to anyone who showers at your place. Some of them you only used once.
You can't erase the past, but you can reduce your future count. Bar soap doesn't come in a bottle, so it doesn't count.

Your used coffee grounds aren't trash. They're halfway through a cycle most people never finish
That morning cup was a plant, then a bean, then your coffee. And the story doesn't end at the bin. Spent grounds can feed a garden, grow mushrooms, or exfoliate tired-looking skin.
Kept in the loop, nothing really becomes waste. That's a circular economy, one cup at a time.
What do you do with yours? Save this for the next time you're about to toss them. 💚
Upcycling is basically modern alchemy. Hear me out.
Alchemists spent centuries trying to turn junk into gold. They failed. And accidentally invented modern chemistry along the way, distillation, the first lab equipment, even porcelain (clay fired into what they called "white gold").
The real treasure was never the gold. It was everything they discovered chasing it. That's upcycling too: you take an untapped resource, see the value everyone missed, and end up with something nobody saw coming.
Turns out turning trash into treasure was real all along.
What's something everyone calls worthless that you know isn't? 💚
Americans throw out used coffee grounds by the millions every day, and most people have no idea what they're tossing.
Those grounds aren't spent. They're loaded with caffeine that wakes up tired-looking skin, a natural grit that buffs it smooth, plus antioxidants and oils. All of it usually headed straight for the bin.
So I rescue what the city throws out and give it a second life. It won't save the planet. But it proves a point we keep forgetting: we trash things that still have value.
What's something you've started reusing instead of tossing? 💚
The circular economy isn't some far-off invention we're waiting on. It's already here, and nature invented it a few billion years before we did.
We're living in a linear economy: take, make, waste. Resources get dug up, used once, and buried. But there's a better blueprint, borrowed straight from the forest, where nothing is trash and everything becomes the start of something else.
That's the whole idea behind upcycling. Yesterday's waste becomes today's raw material. Same stuff, new job title.
What's one thing you'd love to see get a second life? 💚
What is a refillery? Think of it like the candy aisle of clean living, you pay for what you weigh, minus the plastic. Bring your own container, fill up on soap, shampoo, detergent, oils, and pay for the product instead of the packaging.
The best part: the owners who open these shops tend to run on the same code. Earth first. Do no harm. They curate every shelf with brands that live by it too.

I make skincare out of literal trash...okay, not trash — upcycled coffee grounds I rescue from Brooklyn cafés like before they hit a landfill. Turns out post-brewed coffee is packed with antioxidants and makes a perfect natural exfoliant. So I turned it into plastic-free, 2-in-1 body bars. Refined from the rough.
One-man army, trying to make the world a little cleaner. Variety 3-pack in bio. 💚
Most scrubs hide microplastics. This one's just coffee.
One side cleanses, the other exfoliates with real coffee grounds rescued from Brooklyn cafés. No synthetic junk, no microbeads — just organic oils and grounds that were headed for the trash. Gentle enough for daily use, rough enough to work.
