The bees are sensing fall coming as they quickly gather all they can of this fragrant Late Boneset food source.
The next big blooms just starting here are Goldenrod and Aster, both significant of the summer seasons end in Indiana.
We will be moving the bees into their new location soon (north side of property) as we prepare for our newest addition to our homestead.

The new hive seems to be settling in. They are already building comb and I gave them some honey to help move things along.

I missed going to get a big swarm today for frustrating reasons.
I just checked on my weekend crew and they are already building comb and doing great 💪🏻🐝
Hopefully I can add more to the gang soon!

From beehive to your table, do not underestimate what it takes to make a real beeswax candle.

Once the honeybee has graciously supplied the beeswax, the beehavers work begins.
The wax is to be rendered, strained, and sometimes repeated.
In a home kitchen this means laying out foil & wax paper everywhere so your mess is easier to clean as well as having a clean environment.
I personally strain a last time into my molds and store them for ease of use for the products I make.

So next time you buy a candle from a market or local beekeeper, please remember all that went into it, from bee to table, and enjoy the light 🐝🐝🐝
