Excerpts from a message by Men’s Pastor Cleve Masterson. Prayer series continues. Prayer is both incredibly important and powerful in the life of a Christ follower. This month is Pray May for our church, establishing a prayer routine.
God answers every prayer we give, maybe not in the way we want, but he always answers. It all begins with Him. We are children of God and heirs of God, and that should affect the way we approach him. There are trying times ahead and we need to be prepared for that. You need a measure of faith in order to reach out and for him to hear us. It always begins with Him, He gets all the glory.
We need to forget about ourselves and focus on Him. Our world is too self-centered these days. We don’t need to worry about ourselves because He is already doing it! 🙌🏻 When we let go of ourselves, we allow Him to take over! Focus on Him and keep your eyes on Him! 🥰
When we look to Him, he reflects on us and we become what He intends. Prayer connects us to our divine assignment. As we behold him, we become aware of his intentions…*see slide.
We are his children and we should not behave as orphans. Psalms has poetry, prayer, and worship all in one chapter. The Lord is my shepherd! Psalm 23 is a great example of this. We must diligently seek Him, lean in, seek His heart, give all of yourself! ❤️ There are many names for Jesus Christ (*see slide) each of those names magnifies Him. When we acknowledge Him, we let go of who we are, and then we find out who we are. Do you see what incredible access we have in God? Ask him what we need him to be for us in our lives. He is our provider! He is the God of peace and he will give it to us. Go with God’s plan. He restores my soul, and is the ultimate healer. He needs us to trust Him, yield to Him, and give it all to Him. Say yes to Him and no to yourself.

Excerpts from a message by Pastor Patrick Tanton. Today is the start of a new teaching series called Prayer. Prayer is both incredibly important and powerful in the life of a Christ follower. Next month will be Pray May for our church.
Prayer must be a regular, integral part of our lives. We often feel nervous in praying out loud. Memorized prayers help to take the pressure off. They can become empty memorizations if we are not careful. Prayer should start to flow from your heart. The power of prayer is found in the one who hears it, not in the one who prays it.
Jesus taught his disciples and us to pray “like this”, utilizing The Lord’s Prayer. This prayer was not meant to be memorized, it was meant to be modeled. “Our Father Who Art in Heaven…” Luke 11, Matthew 6:9-13
Let’s break it down.
“Our Father”, He Is Our Father in Heaven, this relationship gives us access to Him. We need to connect and acknowledge the relationship, because of His great love for us.
“Who Art in Heaven”, He is The eternal king and sovereign ruler, for ALL eternity. This is why we pray to Him!
“Hallowed be Your name”. The word means sanctified or Holy. May we honor and revere your character because of the Holy God You are. There is no one like you! Let us declare the holiness of His name before we ask for anything! 🙏🏻✝️

Excerpts from a message by Pastor Patrick Tanton. How do we follow up after Easter and the resurrection? We follow the disciples and what they did. Their faith had skyrocketed since he defeated death, all things are possible! The son of God is unstoppable!
What happens next? Jesus spent the next 40 days teaching and instructing the disciples, before he rose again. He gave them specific, critical instructions. Acts 1:4
Let’s back up to where Jesus chose to give up his divine power to become just like men. Phil 2:17 Jesus depended on the power of the Holy Spirit to perform all the miracles and live the life he did. He knew how necessary the Holy Spirit was for him and also for us. This can be hard for us (and the disciples) to understand because we don’t see him, understand him, or recognize him. John 14:26 John 16:7 Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to them and also to us. John 16:13-15 Acts 1:8
Five foundational truths: 1. The spirit inside of you is better than Jesus beside you. 2. The Holy Spirit is the one who helps us through life. 3. The Holy Spirit takes the things in God’s heart and speaks them to us. 4. The Holy Spirit takes the things of Jesus and makes them our own. 5. The Holy Spirit will you give you power to live out God’s best for your life.
God desires for us to follow Jesus and to experience the power of the Holy Spirit! 🙌🏻💕✝️ It’s time for us to invite the Holy Spirit to live in us and through us!

Happy Easter, Resurrection Sunday, and baptism Sunday! He has risen indeed!! ✝️🙌🏻 Excerpts from a message by Pastor Patrick Tanton.
Humanity was wrestling with obstacles they couldn’t overcome on their own. God created mankind and gave us free will. Then sin entered the world. It brought death and separation from our Creator.
Psalm 89:14 speaks of righteousness and justice. Sin separated us from the Holy God. A price had to be paid for our sin, it couldn’t be ignored. Mercy and loving-kindness were given to us as a gift. Justice is focused on people getting what they rightly deserve, mercy is the opposite. God is both though. Jesus endured unbelievable torture and died on a cross, paying the price for our sin and declaring us reconciled and forgiven. We are forgiven for our sin! Thank you Jesus!! ✝️🥰
The gospel of Mark is his written version of Peter’s stories of his time with Jesus. Mark 16 speaks of the resurrection. The disciples still had a hard time trying to understand why He had to die and why He wasn’t there. The Angel told them to meet Jesus in Galilee, He is alive! Jesus did what he said he would do. He defeated death so that we could live! 🙌🏻💕✝️

Excerpts from a message by Connections Pastor Travis Deatherage. Today we celebrate Palm Sunday and the start of Holy Week.
We are going to look closer at all that happened during that week. To crown Jesus properly, we have to behold him accurately.
There are so many pictures and portrayals of Jesus, but we must remember who He truly is. Even the Jewish religious leaders verbally and physically assaulted him, not believing that He is the fulfillment of prophecy, the true Messiah. They did not behold him properly.
Do you reject, love, follow or mock him? What will you do with this man? We all need to answer this question. We need to behold him properly.
To see him properly, we need to see and understand all that happened, all that he went through, leading up to the cross. All for us and our sin. We need to see him differently, not just the celebration that comes at the end, but seeing all that He endured for us. Do our lives truly reflect Him or are we only partially following and halfway honoring him? When we choose to sin, knowing what he did for us, we make a mockery of him. One day we will all get to choose to kneel before Him. We need to pray for and share with those who do not yet believe. Repent, ask for forgiveness of your sin, and behold Him today! Let’s all kneel together before Him and believe today, don’t wait!! ✝️❤️

Discernment…I finally found my word for the year! Thank you for placing it on my heart Jesus! I pray that you will give me your discernment and wisdom as I pursue your plan for me. 🙌🏻✝️💕🤗
Discernment in the Bible refers to the ability to distinguish between right and wrong, truth and falsehood, and to make wise decisions guided by God’s wisdom. It is often associated with spiritual insight and is considered essential for living a faithful Christian life.
Discernment is crucial for Christians to navigate life’s complexities. It protects against false teachings and helps maintain spiritual integrity. By relying on God’s wisdom, believers can make decisions that align with their faith and values.

Excerpts from a message by Pastor Patrick Tanton. Proverbs Clips of Wisdom series continues, written by King Solomon.
Today we learn of the wisdom in our relationships, which is the biggest gift but also a major source of conflict. Proverbs 27:15. A quarrelsome, critical, argumentative spouse is incredibly frustrating and difficult to live with! How we behave during disagreements plays a huge role in the health of our relationships. Fighting is not bad IF we are fighting FOR our relationship or marriage. Disagreements will happen, they can escalate quickly if we are not careful. James teaches us be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.
Three rules: 1. stop and listen carefully. Our brains process faster than we speak so we are often not listening but formulating our next response. Stop and listen. It’s important to repeat what they say and validate them.
2. Guard our words faithfully, show patience. Proverbs 21:23. “Watch your tongue and keep your mouth shut!” Rules: never call names. Never raise your voice. Never get historical. Never say “never or always”. Never quote your pastor! Haha!
3. Handle your anger righteously, led by the Holy Spirit. Be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger. Overlook an offense. Show mercy and grace. The more grace you use, the more you have. This does not apply to abuse, seek help and healing.

Excerpts from a message by Pastor Patrick Tanton. Proverbs Clips of Wisdom series continues, written by King Solomon.
Today we learn about the wisdom of The Path, Proverbs 7. Your path determines your destination. There is a disconnect between what we intend, and the direction we actually choose. Your direction trumps your intention. How are we living our lives, what choices are we making, does it reflect where we want to go?
Sometimes we think we can get on the wrong path or make the wrong choice, without consequences. We often don’t realize how serious the consequences can be, it could be the path to ruin. Invite the Holy Spirit to help you see your choices clearly. Fulfillment is always the result of arriving where you intended to be. If we repent and follow Jesus, we can change direction toward where He wants us to go. Humble yourself, ask for help, and change direction.

Excerpts from a message by Pastor Patrick Tanton. Proverbs Clips of Wisdom series continues, written by King Solomon.
Today we learn about the wisdom of humility, mentioned 41 times in the book of Proverbs. Pride leads to disgrace or downfall but with humility comes wisdom. With humility we learn how to get over ourselves. Humility is having a modest view of one’s own importance and significance. Pride will derail you from all that God has planned for you. Pride puts you in opposition to the Lord.
Three layers of humility that we are called to: humility before God (fear of/respect for the Lord); humility about ourselves (not low self esteem but recognizing we are not God, have a teachable spirit); humility toward others (think of yourself less and others first). Your life becomes larger if you can become smaller in it. Humility is what carries wisdom into your life. We need humility in every part of our lives. Where in your life are you holding onto control? Let go and submit to Him. Humility is the soul in which His promises grow.
