Early last month I found out that my dad passed away suddenly and very unexpectedly. I have spent the month since trying my hardest to continue on with my days as normal, but losing a parent is a sharp, deep pain and carrying that weight can be exhausting. I decided through the summer to take a few long weekends away and have closed those on my booking site, one to go to Colorado where my dad was born and raised to be at his memorial service with all of his family and friends who knew him best. In many ways, it felt like being close to my dad again and it was so beautiful. I will also be on his farm in Kentucky some throughout the summer to settle his affairs and give his home some TLC. With that, I just want to thank you for your patience with my limited schedule this summer, and show you my gratitude for always lifting me up in throughout the different seasons of life. It wouldn’t have been appropriate to share without also showing some of my favorite salon memories with my dad: the first of which when he took my first appointment on the day of my beauty school graduation. And the last, the day before my wedding. I begged him to let me color his hair, and he finally relented as long as I promised it would be the same color after I was done. And an honorable mention to our matching mullets circa 1995 😂 And as cliche as it sounds (and I know it is), tell your loved ones how much you love them. Life can be so unexpected 🩷 sending much love and appreciation to you all!
