This is why we start on the floor. 💜

The beautiful Jane absolutely crushed this progression in Pole Level 2 this week.

When I introduce shoulder mounts, we start from a bridge position on the floor. Not because I’m babying the skill (although my students occasionally think I am 😂), but because I want their bodies to understand the mechanics before we add height.

Shoulder mounts require you to understand that lock on your trap, your cup grip, and how your body needs to organize itself—and yes, they hurt.

If something hurts or feels wrong six feet in the air and you panic and bail, that’s when injuries can happen. If you’re six inches off the floor? You put your feet down.

So we learn it low. We make it safe. And lately, we’ve been turning that learning process into low flow.

Jane’s assignment here:

✨ Shoulder mount from a bridge
✨ Find her chopper
✨ Push into inverted crucifix
✨ Find a handstand and a shape
✨ Come safely back down

And eventually we can take that same sequence and add the inverted-crucifix-to-Jasmine transition I showed you yesterday.

Suddenly, something that started as a beginner progression on the floor becomes the foundation for a beautiful combo that travels right up the pole.

Start low. Learn the mechanics. Build confidence. Then we take it higher.

Jane did such a beautiful job putting all the pieces together. 💜

The studio was ON FIRE last night. 🔥

People were doing so many amazing things that I basically spent the entire night running around with my phone—and this was just ONE of them.

Every now and then, my slightly unhinged brain looks at a perfectly normal pole skill and goes, “WAIT. What if we did THIS?!” 😂

Everyone looks at me like I’ve lost my mind.

Then I get ridiculously excited about my idea, they agree to try it mostly to make me happy…

AND THEN THEY NAIL IT. 😍

Our poles are a little closer together than you’ll find in many studios, and last night my brain realized that gave us the perfect setup for this adorable little doubles moment on spin.

And LOOK AT THEM. 💜

For my pole people who immediately want to play with it: they’re spinning in opposite directions with opposite lead legs to make the shapes come together.

Sometimes the best part of class is learning the curriculum.

And sometimes it’s letting my weird little brain say, “Okay, but what if…?” and seeing what happens. 😂

Happy Monday morning! 💜

And really, is there any better way to start the week than with a beautiful woman twirling around a pole? 😍

This particular beautiful woman happens to be one of my favorites. You see her A LOT around here because, quite frankly, she’s just so dang good at everything she does.

Strong. Beautiful. Graceful. And making it all look ridiculously easy.

Maybe watching her this morning is your sign that it’s finally time to come join us at Studieaux Heaux.

And if it is, August is a pretty damn good month to start. 🎂🎁

We’re celebrating my birthday ALL MONTH LONG with bonus classes when you purchase a class pack:

✨ Buy 3 classes → Get 1 FREE

Sometimes the song wins the first few rounds. 😂

This morning I put together choreography for a private birthday party, and the Queen of the party chose “Overthink” by Wale for her song.

And y’all… she challenged me with this one. 😂

I had a hard time finding the flow. I would put something together, listen again, change it, move things around, and keep searching for movement that felt right with the music.

But eventually it clicked.

And in the end, I put together something I’m really proud of—something that’s going to be fun, a little challenging, and hopefully make our birthday girl and all of her guests feel AMAZING while they’re doing it. 👑💜

Sometimes choreography flows out of you.

Sometimes you have to fight with it a little first.

But that’s part of the fun.

Now I’m ready for the birthday crew to get here and bring it to life. 🎉

Can we all take a second to appreciate Candace and Adam? 😍

This beautiful sequence didn’t happen by accident.

It took weeks of practice, trust, communication, and learning exactly how to move together.

One of the biggest misconceptions about acro yoga is that it’s just about strength.

It’s not.

It’s about listening to your own body, communicating what you feel, and responding to what your partner is feeling—all in real time.

That’s one of the reasons I love having acro yoga at Studieaux Heaux.

Yes, you’ll build strength.
Yes, you’ll learn incredible skills.

But you’ll also practice something we could all use a little more of: communication.

You can’t assume your partner knows what you need.
You have to feel it, say it, adjust, and work together.

Honestly… I’ve always thought acro yoga would be one of the best activities for couples. Not because it’s romantic, but because it teaches you how to listen, communicate, trust, and solve problems together.

If you’re curious about giving it a try, check out our schedule or send us a DM, and we’ll let you know when the next acro yoga class is.

Who knows… you might just discover your new favorite way to connect. 💜

You know all those cool tricks you’ve been learning in Sling?

Now it’s time to learn what to do with them.

One of the biggest hurdles for aerial students isn’t learning individual skills—it’s figuring out how to connect them into something that feels beautiful, intentional, and uniquely you.

That’s exactly what Sling Combos & Choreography is for.

In this class, Kylie will help you:
✨ Learn transitions that aren’t taught in regular classes.
✨ Discover how to connect skills into seamless combinations.
✨ Explore musicality and movement.
✨ Build confidence performing instead of just executing tricks.

The coolest part?

Even when you’re learning someone else’s choreography, your brain starts collecting ideas. You begin to think, “Ooh… I like that transition,” or “That move would look really cool after my favorite drop.”

That’s how your own style begins to develop.

It’s where showcase routines are born.
It’s where confidence grows.
It’s where tricks become art.

💜 Sling Combos & Choreography
📅 Wednesdays at 6:30 PM
👯 Open to Sling Level 1 and above

If you’ve been wanting to make your aerial movement look more fluid, expressive, and performance-ready, this is the class you’ve been missing.

Come join Kylie and discover your flow. 💜

A few years ago, I drove past the old Richland Fashion Mall while it was being demolished and saw this guy standing out front talking to a camera. I remember thinking, “Oh… that’s that guy from Instagram. He must be doing a video about the mall.”

Fast forward to today, and I truly believe Ken Walker has become one of Columbia’s biggest cheerleaders.

While so many people focus on what’s wrong with our city, Ken has made a name for himself by shining a light on what’s right. He gets excited about local businesses, local people, and all the reasons Columbia is a great place to live—and in doing so, he gets the rest of us excited too.

So when walked through the doors of Studieaux Heaux, it absolutely made my day.

Actually… it made everyone’s day.

Our students were so excited to show him what we do, everyone was laughing, everyone was a little giggly, and it reminded me just how special this community really is.

Ken, thank you for taking the time to visit us, for creating this awesome video, and for introducing even more people to our little corner of Columbia. It means more than you know. 💜

And if you’re here because you found us through Ken…

Welcome! 👋

Whether you’ve been curious about pole, aerial silks, sling, lyra, chains, or you’re just looking for a place where you’ll be welcomed exactly as you are, we’d love to meet you.

What would happen if Azaria took over Studieaux Heaux for the night? 🤔💜

Well… last night we got our answer.

A jam-packed Intro to Pole class followed by a full Pole Level 1 class filled with laughter, encouragement, new skills, and so much fun.

Watching our instructors step into their own teaching style is one of my favorite things. They each bring something different to the studio, and Azaria’s calm confidence, contagious smile, and genuine excitement for her students make every class a blast.

Judging by the smiles in this video, I’d say her students agree. 😍

Help us show Azaria some love in the comments! ⬇️💜

And if you’ve been waiting for a sign to try pole…

This is it.

✨ FREE Intro to Pole

Come see what all the fun is about. We promise—you’ll leave smiling too.

🔥 First of all… can we all take a moment to appreciate how absolutely BEAUTIFUL Azaria makes this combo look? 😍🔥

Now watch all the way to the end…

Yep… a little whoopsie. 😊

Before anyone asks—she’s completely fine. It was a controlled fall, she landed safely, and after making sure she was okay, we did what we always do at Studieaux Heaux: we asked, “What can we learn from this?”

Azaria’s answer made me smile:
“I hadn’t done a Jade Split in a while. I was really slippery. I probably shouldn’t have put it on spin.”

🎯 Exactly.

If you’ve taken class with me, you’ve heard me say this over and over:

Spin pole adds complexity.

Your brain isn’t just remembering the trick anymore. It’s remembering the trick while your world is moving. That means your timing changes, your grip changes, your orientation changes, and your body has more information to process.

When you’re relearning a skill, haven’t practiced it in a while, or you’re trying something new, do yourself a favor:

✨ Master it on static first.
✨ Build confidence.
✨ Let your body remember the movement.
✨ Then add the complexity of spin.

Learning isn’t about making things harder as fast as possible. It’s about building a solid foundation so your body has the best chance to succeed.

And for the record… Azaria handled both the combo and the recovery like a total badass. ❤️
