Yellowstone doesn't do subtle. It does geysers that roar, springs that glow, and the most adorable bison calf.

Winter magic is real, and it lives at Tahquamenon Falls! Seeing the roaring amber waters framed by pure white snow and giant hanging icicles was absolutely breathtaking. It feels like stepping straight into a living snow globe.

If you haven't seen the Upper Peninsula in the winter, you are missing out on one of Michigan's true wonders!

The ultimate winter wonderland does exist! ❄️

We traded the couch for snowmobiling the trails of Munising, MI—the snowmobile capital of the Midwest. From learning how to dog sled to hiking the stunning Eben Ice Caves and Sand Point Beach, this trip was pure magic. Plus, our Airbnb right on Lake Superior kept us warm and cozy after long days in the cold.

Who are you bringing?

We had a little trouble finding the trailheads at first — but once we found them, it turned into one of our favorite hikes of the trip. 🧊 The Curtains and The Amphitheater are two ice formations tucked just off the main path, and they're worth the search.

First-timer tips if you're headed out there:
📍 Park at the Sand Point Beach sign (right in front of Lake Superior) — there's parking on both sides
🚶 Walk back toward the park entrance for about 0.5 mile
👀 Watch your left for small brown signs marking each ice formation trail — easy to miss if you're not looking!

Once you spot the signs, the trails take you right up to the formations. Totally worth the extra few minutes of searching. ❄️

🥶 -11°F and our very FIRST time snowmobiling! Talk about a wild introduction to Munising, Michigan in January!

We were honestly traumatized and exhilarated all at the same time. The Alger County trails are beautifully groomed and wind through gorgeous snowy forests, making the freezing temperatures a little easier to brave.

If you are a newbie planning a winter getaway here, here is our advice: dress in serious layers, keep an eye on local trail reports, and make sure your route ends near a cozy local diner for hot cocoa. The U.P. hospitality is the perfect cure for frostbitten beginners! ☕🔥

Would you brave a -11° ride for views like this? Let us know in the comments!👇

The full plan, mapped out.

Columbus to Cairo, then south to Aswan, a Nile cruise up to Luxor, and east to Hurghada for the Red Sea and a desert safari. Three flights, a boat, and a jeep — this trip covers a lot of ground.

We even mapped out where we're hoping to spot some birds along the way, because it's bird migration on the Nile.

Every mile has a story — these are about to be some good ones.

Two days until wheels up. 🧳

Here's everything going in the bags for Egypt — desert layers, something modest for the mosques and tombs, swimwear for the Red Sea and the Nile cruise, an adapter (Egypt runs 220V), and small bills for tipping, which is basically its own currency of politeness over there.

Beau surprised us both with a travel pillow and eye mask combo to actually try to sleep through this flight path — we'll report back on whether it worked.

Maverick supervised approximately none of the packing and all of the chaos. He's off to his home away from home while we're gone.

Egypt, we're coming for you. 🐫

Step into a frozen fairy tale at the breathtaking Eben Ice Caves in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula!

Tucked away inside the Hiawatha National Forest near Eben Junction and Deerton, these towering, glowing blue-and-gold ice curtains form every winter when snowmelt seeps over the sandstone cliffs and freezes. It is a magical, short trek that feels like another world!

Best Time to Go: January and February offer the most dramatic views

Essential Gear: Real ice cleats or crampons for your boots are an absolute must-have to stay upright! Trekking poles are also super helpful.

Parking & Amenities: There is a plowed parking area at the end of Frey Road (managed via private land access) with a suggested cash donation box to help maintain the lot and restrooms.

Pro-Tip: Cell service out in the wilderness is basically nonexistent, so download your maps and check current weather/trail conditions beforehand!

Unforgettable day out at Husky Haven Kennels!

If you ever get the chance to visit, you have to book a tour with Kim. We aren't getting paid to say this—she is just that amazing!

She taught us so much about the dogs and how she ran the Iditarod in Alaska, gave us a full tour of the grounds, and even let us try mushing the dogs ourselves.

The dogs are so well-loved and the experience is top-notch. Highly, highly recommend!

Check them out on Husky Haven Race Team - Kim Darst to plan your visit!

Where can you see wild horses on a 4-wheel drive beach? 🐴🌊

Corolla, North Carolina — sand, surf, and horses that have run wild here for centuries, all in the same stretch of beach.
