Spring your ass into the salon and get a trim. 🌸✂️

The ideal trim schedule for maximum length retention is every 8 weeks. That’s how you stop split ends from traveling up the shaft and turning into breakage.

If you like to stretch it, cool — but you need to be in the salon at least every quarter. Think of it like this: every time the seasons change, so should your ends.

Healthy hair can last a quarter. After that, you’re gambling.

And yes, this applies to protective styles too. If you’re wearing knotless braids, stitch braids, or any style with extensions for 6–8 weeks, you should be trimming after that set. Friction from braiding hair + tension + time = weakened ends.

Protective styles don’t cancel maintenance.

You want real length retention?
Trim consistently. Stay on a regimen. Stop neglecting your ends.

Now I’m retraining my hair and documenting the journey from the start ✨

Also - let this be a reminder:
Just because your hair is loc’d does NOT mean it’s invincible.

I over-processed my locs with color, and over time it weakened them.
Locs can still dry out, thin, and break from excessive coloring if they’re not properly cared for.

Healthy hair is healthy hair — no matter the style.
