Who plays Magic the game ??????

So, during Ask a Grumpy Witch Friday, I keep seeing the same types of questions make their way into the comments.

“How do I remove a curse?”
“How do I improve my luck?”
“Why can’t I find love?”
“Why am I treated this way?”
“Will I get the job tomorrow?”

Then I give my answer.

Usually it’s blunt.
Usually it’s practical.
Usually it starts with the mundane before the magical.

Then I never hear from those people again.
Which makes me wonder.
Is it because I didn’t give you the answer you wanted?
Or is it because I’m not feeding your fear, your fantasy, or your desire for a quick fix?

The truth is that most of these questions aren’t really about magic.
They’re about uncertainty.
People want certainty.

They want someone to tell them they’re cursed so there’s a clear enemy.
They want someone to guarantee the job.
They want someone to promise love is right around the corner.
They want a spell that fixes years of bad decisions, bad habits, bad luck, or bad circumstances.

Magic doesn’t work that way.
I don’t see the future.
Nobody does.

At best, we see possibilities.
We see patterns.
We see likely paths.

The future changes every time someone makes a choice.
Including you.
That’s why my answers often start with questions.

Have you applied for other jobs?
Have you spoken to a doctor?
Have you left the house and met people?
Have you looked at your finances?
Have you considered that maybe your bad luck isn’t a curse?

Because before I start looking for magical causes, I want to rule out the obvious ones.

Magic is not a fix-all.
Magic is not a substitute for effort.
Magic is the energy drink, not the workout.
It might help you push harder.
It might help you focus.
It might help open a door.
But you still have to walk through it.

MILKWEED ~ the milky substance that hides in the stem contains LATEX. It also contains a natural chemical that can cause skin irritation or itching.
PETS~ It is mildly toxic to pets but reactions to it can vary from skin irritations to higher toxicity symptoms if ingested by your pets.
It is best to wear gloves when harvesting and to ensure your pet will not eat it.
(Most will not as it is extremely bitter tasting)

Her story is prominently recorded in the medieval Welsh tale, The Dream of Macsen Wledig. In the story, the Roman Emperor Macsen dreams of a beautiful woman in a faraway fortress. He tracks her down to Wales, marries her, and grants her sovereignty over Britain.
