Installing loc extensions is the beginning of the journey—not the end of maintenance. 🤎

This client’s extensions were installed in February. She had her first maintenance in April, then went five months without it. At this visit, her natural hair was budding, with new growth and loose hair around the roots and attachment points. Some frizz is expected, but hair growing outside the loc can affect its shape and create weaker areas over time.

I crocheted the loose hair back into the locs to reinforce the attachment areas. I recommend maintenance about every 4–6 weeks, adjusted to your hair as it grows and matures. ✨

Realistic Loc Extension Expectations 🤎
Loc count is determined by your natural hair density—not simply by the number of locs you want.

Creating smaller parts just to achieve a higher loc count can compromise the foundation and place unnecessary weight on fine or low-density hair.

The goal will always be a healthy foundation, proper loc-to-part ratio, and the fullest natural result your hair can safely support.
