Sometimes Success Looks Different and it abSOULutely takes a village.

Today I had the opportunity to work with a sweet little guy whose journey has included autism along with several other medical challenges.

His hair had grown quite long because, honestly, getting a haircut simply wasn’t at the top of the priority list. When a family is navigating appointments, therapies, medical concerns, and everyday life, some things understandably take a back seat.

There had been a previous attempt at a haircut that wasn’t completed. But this isn’t a story about what didn’t happen.

It’s a story about a family doing their best.

Mom was doing her best.
Dad was doing his best.
The first stylist was doing her best.
And today, I was grateful for the opportunity to meet this little guy where he was and try again.

As service providers, it’s easy to focus on the task in front of us. But sometimes our role is bigger than the service itself. Sometimes we are invited into a moment that requires patience, flexibility, creativity, and trust.

This experience challenged me to rethink my process. Instead of focusing on how I normally perform a haircut, I focused on how I could best serve this child in that moment.

The goal wasn’t perfection.

The goal was helping him feel safe, respected, and successful.

I share this as a gentle reminder that we never truly know what another family is carrying. What may seem like a simple task can represent weeks, months, or even years of effort behind the scenes.

A little grace for parents.
A little grace for professionals.
A little grace for children navigating a world that can sometimes feel overwhelming.

Today wasn’t about a haircut.

It was about trust, perseverance, and the privilege of being part of someone’s journey.

And for that, I am grateful. ❤️
