Nutrition for Healthy hair growth
🥬Iron + folate: Found in leafy greens, lentils, beans and fortified foods. Iron deficiency is a well-established cause of diffuse hair shedding.
🥑Healthy fats: Avocado, walnuts, flaxseeds, chia seeds and olive oil provide essential fatty acids and vitamin E that support overall skin and scalp health.
🫛Zinc: Pumpkin seeds, beans, nuts and seafood provide zinc, an essential mineral involved in protein synthesis and cell growth. Zinc deficiency can contribute to hair loss.
🫘Protein: Hair is primarily made of keratin, a protein. Eggs, beans, lentils, fish, poultry, tofu and Greek yogurt can help you meet your protein needs.
🥕Vitamin A & carotenoids: Sweet potatoes, carrots and leafy greens provide carotenoids that the body can convert to vitamin A. More isn’t always better-excess vitamin A from supplements can actually contribute to hair loss.
🍊Vitamin C: Citrus, berries, peppers and
broccoli help support collagen production and improve absorption of plant-based iron.
🌰Biotin: Eggs, nuts, seeds and legumes contain biotin, but biotin deficiency is rare.
🌿Hibiscus: Hibiscus contains polyphenols and other plant compounds with antioxidant activity.
🌱Fenugreek: Fenugreek contains protein, fiber, minerals and bioactive plant compounds.
🍃Rosemary: Rosemary is another popular botanical ingredient. A small clinical trial found rosemary oil showed potential for hair growth.
🌿Moringa + nettle: Both provide various micronutrients and phytochemicals to strengthen hair.
🍃Aloe vera + oils: Aloe vera may help moisturize and soothe the scalp, while oils such as olive or coconut oil can help reduce dryness and hair-shatt damage.
