You can spend four years earning a degree and still lose the opportunity to someone who got introduced over lunch.

That doesn’t mean education is worthless.

It means qualifications and access aren’t the same thing.

A degree can teach you the skills, help you meet requirements, and prove you can finish something difficult.

But relationships often determine who hears about the opening first, whose résumé gets forwarded, and who receives the benefit of the doubt before the interview even begins.

I’ve seen talented people stay invisible because they believed good work would automatically get noticed.

It usually doesn’t.

You still have to meet people, help people, stay in touch, and build a reputation that travels into rooms before you do.

Networking isn’t begging strangers for favors.

It’s becoming the kind of person others feel comfortable recommending when an opportunity appears.

Your education may make you qualified.

Your relationships can make sure someone knows it.
