Today hit differently.

I had the privilege of working with Sassy Caps for their annual Day of Sass, providing facials for 30 women living with cancer.

I’ve done meaningful work throughout my career, but this year was different because cancer is different to me now.

Since losing my brother to cancer, I don’t hear that word the same way. I don’t look at the person going through it the same way. I understand more deeply that behind every diagnosis is a person, a family, people who love them fiercely, and a life that has been turned upside down.

So today, every woman who sat in front of me touched a part of my heart that is still grieving.

There were moments when I thought about my brother. Moments when I had to swallow the lump in my throat and keep going. And moments when I realized what an incredible privilege it was to use my hands to give someone going through something so difficult a little bit of peace.

For those few minutes, it wasn’t about cancer.

It wasn’t about treatments, doctors, appointments, or what their bodies have been through.

It was about being cared for.

It was about touch, connection, laughter, softness, and allowing someone else to take care of them for a change.

I wish more than anything that cancer had never become such a personal part of my family’s story. But today reminded me that sometimes our grief changes the way we show up for other people.

I walked into Day of Sass hoping to give something to these women.

I left feeling like they gave something to me, too.

To every woman who trusted me with your skin, your stories, and a little piece of your day — thank you.

And to Sassy Caps for creating a space where women can feel supported, celebrated, and cared for during one of the hardest seasons of their lives, thank you for allowing Victorious Skincare to be part of it.
