I built a business from the ground up.

After a motorcycle accident, I spent a long time rehabilitating my body while working at a local pharmacy. I remember walking through those doors with my head hung low, feeling like a version of myself had been taken away. Eventually, I reached a point where I knew something had to change. I had to figure out a way to create a life where I could work for myself, even though I had no idea what that would look like.

That decision led me to massage school in Davenport. Around that same time, I bought a home from family friends. The house sat on my grandparents’ property, and my grandma Ronda was the person who encouraged me to take that leap.

She looked at me and said, “Jackie, if you buy the house, I’ll give you the land that it sits on. From the two rocks, to the horse fence, to the rose bush.”
I trusted her word. She was one of the strongest women I had ever known and someone I looked up to more than she’ll ever understand.

After finishing school, I remodeled my new home and launched Born Anew Therapeutic Massage. I built a space where my clients and I could feel safe. A place to breathe. A place to unplug from the chaos of the world. A place where people could come back home to themselves.

And then something incredible happened.

People believed in me.

My little business grew. I was blessed with the most amazing clients who trusted me with their bodies, their stories, their pain, and their healing. The same year I launched my business was the same year I had to stop accepting new clients because I was booked out three months in advance.

That was a blessing I never imagined would happen.

So when I received an eviction notice on Mother’s Day from my aunt and grandma, after dealing with water pipes bursting beneath my floorboards that same week, I felt completely devastated.

I was told I had 90 days to move my home. By that point, ServiceMaster had already come in and removed my entire floor because of the damage.

Suddenly, I was facing the reality of needing land, money to move the house, and money to repair it.

The truth was, I didn’t have the resources to do all three.

I made the decision not to hire an attorney and fight to stay somewhere that no longer felt like a place I wanted to call home. Over time, I felt increasingly uncomfortable in my own space. Small things began to build up, and I felt like I was constantly under pressure and unable to fully relax.

While I was spending my days helping other people heal relocated at Wellness Essentials, I was struggling internally to regulate myself. I didn’t have the fight left in me to battle a situation that was already taking so much from me.

I couldn’t get the house sold as is. So I began taking it apart piece by piece, watching years of my life leave in people’s truck beds.

A home I poured my heart into became a reminder that sometimes things we build with love still have to be released.

I eventually sold it for $5 to someone who promised they would help me move forward and not return it back to my family. That didn’t happen the way I hoped it would.

And while I have watched a chapter of my life close in a way I never expected, I am learning how to rebuild once again.

But here is the truth…

I am not alone.

I have never been alone.

When everything felt like it was falling apart, I was reminded of something even more powerful: community is everything.

The people who showed up for me, checked on me, listened to me, encouraged me, supported my business, shared my story, trusted my hands, and reminded me who I am when I forgot, those people became my foundation.

My clients became so much more than clients. You became friends. You became family. You became proof that the work I was putting into the world mattered.

Every massage appointment, every conversation, every hug, every kind word, every person who believed in Born Anew Therapeutic Massage helped build something bigger than a business. You helped build a community.

I used to think rebuilding meant starting from nothing. But I’ve learned that isn’t true. I am not starting over. I am starting again with everything I have gained: my experience, my strength, my lessons, my passion, and the incredible people who have walked beside me.

I am endlessly grateful for every person who has
supported me through this season. For those who offered a helping hand, a place to land, a listening ear, a prayer, encouragement, or simply reminded me that I was still capable of creating something beautiful.

Thank you for seeing me.

Thank you for believing in me.

Thank you for reminding me that even when a physical place is taken away, home is something we carry within ourselves and something we create through the people we surround ourselves with.

Born Anew was never just about massage.

It was always about healing.

And now, I get to live that lesson in my own life.

It was a treasure to see so many of you these past few days, and I am sorry for those I didn’t get to see.

After a lot of thought, growth, and soul-searching, I have officially relocated my business to Denver, Colorado and have obtained licensure within the state 🙌

Leaving Fort Madison was one of the hardest decisions I’ve made. To every client who trusted me with your care, healing, stories, and friendship over the years, thank you. You helped build Born Anew Therapeutic Massage into what it is today, and I will always be grateful for the support and connections we shared.

While it’s bittersweet to leave so many wonderful people behind, I’m incredibly excited for what lies ahead. Denver has quickly become a place that feels like home, and I’m taking a leap of faith toward a dream I’ve carried for a long time: opening my own massage space here in the city.

For now, I am offering mobile massage services throughout the Denver area, bringing therapeutic bodywork directly to you while I continue building toward a permanent location.

This move represents so much more than a change of address. It’s a commitment to growth, new opportunities, and creating a life and business that truly align with who I am becoming.

Over the past years I’ve had the honor of working with over 400 of you, and I never take that trust lightly.

At this time I won’t be accepting any massage sessions in Iowa as I transition into a new opportunity in the Denver/Boulder area. It’s an exciting step for me, and I want to give it my full attention.
