The hardest wedding hair day I’ve ever had… not because the girls were difficult (they were actually the sweetest), and not because the hair was hard to work with. It was because, moments before walking in the door, I received the nightmare phone call that my lifelong best friend had passed away.

I’m so grateful my sister and her boyfriend were there to hold me after I hung up the phone. I’m grateful for my mom’s words of advice: “Brianna would want you to be strong, to do the hair, and to make someone’s day.”

I’m grateful I was doing hair for family friends that day, who gave me understanding, love, and comfort. I’m grateful for every hug and every bit of kindness from the girls as I worked to hold myself together and still pour my heart into their hair.

This day taught me something I’ll carry forever: I am stronger than I think, even in the hardest moments.
