Rivals Barbershop

It was back in 1999 when I first met Holly Bop through his brother, who was one of my clients while I was cutting hair at Downey’s Barbershop. The man our community sees today is not the same man I met all those years ago. Back then, North Durham was a completely different place.

What I’ve witnessed over the years is the power of transformation. Holly Bop made a conscious decision to change his life for the better, and today he stands as a leader, mentor, and example of what’s possible when you refuse to let your past define your future.

Through Campaign for Change, countless young men have heard his testimony and seen firsthand that there is another path. A path that doesn’t involve drugs, gangs, violence, or becoming another victim of street life. His story has inspired many to believe they can become something greater.

Vegas Don, I salute you for everything you’ve endured, everything you’ve overcome, and the impact you’ve made on the Durham community. Your work continues to change lives.
