The Parade of Homes is happening this weekend and next! Here’s a little preview of some of our favorites and some commentary along the way. We had the best time and already can’t wait for the spring Parade!

I’m so thankful to be so as booked as I am, that being said, if you’re a regular of mine and you’re not on the schedule for the holidays now is the time to book it!

Dimensional blonde is all about putting depth back in the right places.

For this look, I added a soft lowlight to break up the blonde and create more dimension, then finished with a root smudge for that seamless looking blend.

All Schwarzkopf Professional USA, of course 🖤

Lowlight: IGORA VIBRANCE 7-0 + 8-46
Root smudge: IGORA VIBRANCE 6-16 + 8-46

What’s your favorite lowlight to use when your blondes want to transition to something more lived in?

Having an assistant behind the chair is truly a game changer!

More efficiency, better guest experience, and honestly… just more fun! Having an extra set of hands means I can focus on the details while still giving every client the attention they deserve.

If you can’t wear your extensions straight…what are we doing!

I never want my clients getting complimented on their extensions.
I want them getting complimented on their hair.

Because the goal should always be “wait… you have extensions?!”

And one of the biggest pieces of creating that kind of blend is color matching. For this install, we used a combination of 3 different Kioma. Professional tones to mimic the natural dimension in her hair.

Extensions should add to the hair, not announce themselves.

None for me thanks 🙅🏼‍♀️
Accept of course my husband, my son and my father in law…my only exceptions.

After 14 years behind the chair, there are a few things I’ve got firm opinions on.

✦ Blonde specialists aren’t made fresh out of hair school.
You can absolutely have a passion for blonding from day one, but becoming a specialist takes time. Hundreds of heads of hair. Learning formulation, placement, timing, corrective color, hair integrity. Experience is what makes a specialist.

✦ Just because a brunette wants to go blonde doesn’t mean it’s a color correction.
Multiple sessions is ok. Taking extra time on a foil is ok. Just cause it’s not easy or fast doesn’t mean it’s corrective. Healthy hair will always win over getting someone “as blonde as possible” today.

✦ Your salon choice as a booth renter is a BUSINESS decision.
Of course you want to love the people you work around, but this is your career. This is how you pay your bills. Location, clientele, environment, amenities and how the space and people around you represents your brand all matter. Choose wisely.

✦ Being a fast foiler doesn’t automatically make you a good foiler.
Speed is great, after technique. Clean sections, intentional placement, proper saturation, no bleed marks and protecting the integrity of the hair matter a whole lot more to me than how quickly you can throw in 100 foils.

And yes… I will happily die on all four of these hills. 😂

What’s something in the hair industry YOU’RE simply not arguing about? 👇🏼
