Herbal Allergy Remedies: Echinacea, Eyebright, Golden Seal and More 04/18/2016

With this allergy season in full swing, I started feeling all the effects. I really didn't want to start on OTC medicine again so off I went to find some natural relief. It didn't take me long to settle on trying Nettle leaf based on the reviews.

My husband and I are both amazed. From the first dose we both got relief! No more runny nose, less sneezing, my nose no longer was stuffy. Here is an article to read so you can find a natural allergy relief too!

I've been reading more about aromatherapy and trying things out. I made an anti-inflammatory lotion last week and have been trying it out on my knees, on my thumb just wherever I thought it might help. So, tonight I got home from work with the worst bloat I've had in quite a while. I ate dinner. Still miserable! Usually this doesn't just go away. I was desperate! I swabbed some of the lotion all over my tummy. Huh! I felt a little better. So about an hour later I did it again. I can't believe it but after another hour, it was gone! Seriously! Gone! I'm amazed!

White Willow Bark for inflammation

The use of willow bark dates back thousands of years, to the time of Hippocrates (400 BC) when patients were advised to chew on the bark to reduce fever and inflammation. Willow bark has been used throughout the centuries in China and Europe, and continues to be used today for the treatment of pain (particularly low back pain and osteoarthritis), headache, and inflammatory conditions, such as bursitis and tendinitis.

The bark of white willow contains salicin, which is a chemical similar to aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid). It is thought to be responsible for the pain relieving and anti-inflammatory effects of the herb. In fact, in the 1800s, salicin was used to develop aspirin. White willow appears to bring pain relief more slowly than aspirin, but its effects may last longer.
