The complexity of a not guilty by reason of insanity plea means visual evidence, like a butcher's knife, can be crucial. Even when prosecution disputes su***de intent, seeing the weapon helps jurors understand the full context of the testimony.
Business owners and individuals deal with contracts constantly. Most people dread reading them, but understanding what you sign is crucial. Always check the 'venue clause' – it might state that disputes must be handled in a different state, with that state's laws applying, even if you thought you were in Florida.
In Massachusetts, a first-degree murder conviction means mandatory life without parole. The jury can consider manslaughter, but it's a difficult middle ground. Experts weigh in on the likelihood of a guilty verdict, second-degree murder, or not guilty by reason of insanity, given the gravity of the charges.

The Lindsay Clancy trial is now in the hands of the jury — and after weeks of testimony, the central question comes down to one critical issue:
Was Lindsay Clancy criminally responsible for the deaths of her three children?
I recently joined ABC7 Sarasota to break down the competing arguments in this closely watched case and explain what the jury will ultimately have to decide.
The defense has argued that Clancy was experiencing postpartum psychosis and was not criminally responsible for her actions. The prosecution, while acknowledging her mental health struggles, argues that she understood what she was doing and that her actions demonstrated planning and premeditation. Now, after closing arguments, the jury is weighing those competing narratives and the extensive psychiatric evidence presented during the trial. As of today, jurors have completed two days of deliberations without reaching a verdict and are expected to continue Monday. (AP News)
This case raises incredibly difficult questions about criminal responsibility, mental illness, postpartum psychosis, and where the law draws the line between a devastating mental health crisis and legal insanity.
Thank you to ABC7 and Summer Smith for having me on to provide legal analysis on this important and heartbreaking case.

ABC7 Legal Analyst Alexis Rosenberg breaks down the postpartum psychosis defense, the prosecution's case and what jurors will ultimately decide.
A dispute resolution clause in a contract dictates how disagreements are handled. It could force you into binding arbitration, preventing you from suing in court. Know your options before signing.
Testimony reveals a male voice allegedly influencing a mother to harm her children and herself. She's accused of killing three children and is now paralyzed from a su***de attempt. The defense argues insanity, questioning her awareness of wrongdoing or ability to stop.
As closing arguments approach, the legal team is dissecting the pivotal testimony. A notable defense attorney, known for a landmark battered woman syndrome case, is making waves. The prosecution faces an uphill battle, with the defense appearing to out-maneuver them.
Reviewing contracts before signing is crucial, especially dispute resolution clauses. Understanding these terms now can prevent major headaches later if a breach occurs.
