Everyone has different triggers, but these foods are some of the 𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 👉🏼
✨Dairy Products
milk, butter, cheese, ice cream. As we age, we do not produce as much of the enzyme that breaks down lactose, called lactase

✨Beans
which contain raffinose, a complex sugar that is more difficult to break down.

✨Vegetables
like brussel sprouts, broccoli, asparagus, which also contain raffinose

✨Whole grains
which contain fiber and starch, which

✨Carbonated beverages
soda is worse due to high fructose content, but carbonation in general (even in sparkling water) will increase bloating

✨Fruits
contain sorbitol and soluble fiber, which take longer to digest

✨Soy Products
Soy is one of the most common food allergies and sensitivities! via .app

Followed up with one of my OMM/manipulation patients who I hadn’t seen in 2 months and she was doing great! She had awful knee pain in both knees when we started and the only answer she was ever given was to get injections in the knee or knee replacement.

The injections had already failed for her, and in general have variable effect (and can ever lead to joint breakdown faster). So, we tried some hands on techniques focusing on the fascia and the lymphatic system. One of her legs was so restricted that she couldn’t even bend it much anymore. Because of that, it caused her to walk in a sort of waddle, which caused more pain. 2 or 3 sessions and she improved greatly and was able to go walking with her grandkids again and increase the hours she worked at her job. With a mix of stretches we discussed and a compression gun to help with the fascia, she did great over the last 2 months and the pain completely resolved in 1 of the legs. via .app

𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗧𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗺! + 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸𝘀 (new blog) 😶‍🌫️😶‍🌫️😶‍🌫️⁣
1. Focus on keeping your core temperature warm! Heat will be directed to your organs, rather than your extremities. The body preferentially protects the organs and the brain, which is why our hands and feet get hit first⁣
👉🏻Buy vests, wool long underwear, scarfs. ⁣
👉🏻I linked a heated vest that would really help with this.⁣
👉🏻My favorite wool under layers are from . My mom lives in Michigan, so she stocks me up all the time. They’re perfect for air conditioned offices or freezing hospitals. ⁣
👉🏻Buy infinity scarfs or very long ones in order to loop them up and protect the chest, neck, and ears. ⁣
⁣
New blog posts Sunday & Wednesday. Lots of healthy holiday gift guides coming too! Because we all have someone in our lives that puts their health first- hopefully that’s you 🥳.

As a family doctor, work requires me to be on my toes! Being sleepy or slow isn’t really an option. I definitely depend on coffee and a balanced breakfast and lunch to get me through. There is NO time for snacks. I eat at 6 am and don’t eat again until 1 pm (7 HOURS I just realized that).⁣
⁣
𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿-⁣
1. 𝗘𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝟯 𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀- don’t skimp on carbs or fats. You need carbs, protein, AND fats for different reasons.⁣
2. 𝗘𝗮𝘁 𝗘𝗡𝗢𝗨𝗚𝗛 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀! 200 calories will not last 7 hours. A good meal will be closer to 400-600 calories, depending on your weight and requirements. ⁣
3. 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱. Prepare it (I cook breakfast in the morning), eat it without any distractions, eat multiple food items instead of 1 large item. I always bring greens for lunch and eat those separately.

My patient thought she had an autoimmune disease because her joints hurt so much…
2 OMM treatments with me and she feels so much better and is even playing on the floor with her daughter. OMM is about increasing the quality of life- making it possible for you to play and walk with your grand kids or to live independently, even when you’re 87. Giving people those irreplaceable experiences is why I love it!
