🩺 MEDICAL MONDAY: Which sunscreen is actually BEST for YOU? ☀️

Not all sunscreen is one-size-fits-all 👏

✨ If you have MELASMA or pigmentation:
➡️ Tinted MINERAL sunscreen
Why? Iron oxides in tinted SPF can help block visible light (which worsens melasma) + zinc is gentler on inflammation.

✨ If you have sensitive skin, rosacea, eczema, or post-procedure skin (tox, filler, peel, microneedling):
➡️ MINERAL sunscreen
Usually less irritating and great after treatments.

✨ If you hate the feel of sunscreen or wear makeup daily:
➡️ CHEMICAL sunscreen
Typically lighter, blends easier, less white cast.

✨ If you’re outside, sweaty, golfing, pool days, sports parent life ⚽️☀️:
➡️ Whatever WATER-RESISTANT SPF 30+ you’ll ACTUALLY reapply

✨ If you struggle with acne-prone skin:
➡️ Lightweight non-comedogenic formulas (mineral OR chemical can work!)

✨ If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding:
➡️ Most providers recommend MINERAL sunscreen (zinc oxide/titanium dioxide).

The “best” sunscreen is the one you’ll wear every single day, because consistency beats perfection. ☀️ 🧴

Please stop burning ticks off 😅

Maybe this is showing my age… but when I was little my mom used to burn them off with a match 😂 Anyone else??

Thankfully… we know better now.

Ticks are BAD this year already, so if your family has been outside at ball games, gardening, camping, parks, pickleball, or honestly just in the yard… do tick checks.

And don’t forget your pets 🐶🐾
A lot of times they’re the ones bringing the little freeloaders inside 🙃

A few things I tell people:

• Check hairline, behind ears, waistband, armpits, behind knees, etc.
• Remove them ASAP
• Skip the burning, Vaseline, oils, nail polish tricks 😅

My favorite thing for removal? A Tick Twister.

Way easier and less gross than trying to wrestle with tweezers and less chance of squeezing the tick.

Also… if you get bit, keep an eye out for things like fever, headache, fatigue, body aches, or a rash (and nope, it’s not always the classic bullseye).

This cause is incredibly dear to my heart 🤍

GLP-1s: facts vs internet fiction

There’s a lot being said right now… much of it not rooted in physiology or clinical practice, research or science or by someone who has a license to prescribe.
Let’s clarify 👇

✨ GLP-1s are not inherently “lifelong” medications
Some patients require long-term support, others transition off successfully with a structured plan. This is individualized medicine, not a blanket statement.

✨ Muscle loss is not caused by the medication itself
It’s the result of poor implementation:
→ inadequate protein intake
→ lack of resistance stimulus
→ excessive or unsupervised dosing

✨ No supplement “mimic” a GLP-1 receptor agonist.
GLP-1s act on specific receptors affecting insulin secretion, gastric emptying, and central appetite signaling.

That means:
🚫 no magic drink mix
🚫 no tea
🚫 no patch

…is ever going to replicate that mechanism or clinical outcome. 🔥

✨ Where I actually see problems
Patients coming in after:
– under-eating for months
– losing significant lean mass
– being given no long-term plan
– or being sold “alternatives” that don’t physiologically make sense
