Why You Shouldn’t Tan Before Laser Hair Removal 🤔
A tan isn’t just a beautiful glow — sun exposure increases the amount of melanin in your skin.
And laser hair removal works by targeting melanin. 🎯
When your skin is freshly tanned, it can absorb more of the laser’s energy, which increases the risk of:
🔥 Burns and irritation
🤎 Hyperpigmentation
🔴 Redness and swelling
⚡ Increased skin sensitivity
There’s another important reason: when your skin is tanned, your laser technician may need to lower the settings for your safety, which can make the treatment less effective.
The simple rule:
Avoid tanning and tanning beds for at least 2 weeks before your appointment, and always let your technician know if you’ve had recent sun exposure — even if your tan looks very light.
And don’t forget SPF 30–50 on exposed areas between your treatments☀️
